Paullan McDarrin's life began in a small, isolated farming community at the foot of the great mountains.Like is 2 fast friends, Garman the Halfling and Haraldo the Dwarf, Paullan childhood was shaped by the feeling of exclusion from the community. In Haraldo and Garmans case the exclusion was based on race, but for Paullan the mark of the Deity caused the estrangement. The three were inseperable, united by their isolation. They spent their childhood avoiding their chores and fleeing the wrath of the village children. The forests, and hidden passages of the village were their home, and here they filled their time with tales and games of adventure and danger, fame and fortune. Their unique talents complemented each other, Haralodo's skills of tracking and empathy for the wild, Garmans inate ability to remain unseen, find the hidden ways, and open any door, and Paullans ability to heal the bruises and cuts.
But then one fateful day danger became a reality. A marauding band of Orcs fell upon the village in the dark of night and burned it to the ground. None were spared and few escaped. Days later Paullan was found uninjured in the burned ruin of his families home by a unit of Paladins and Clerics in the service of the Holy Flame, who were pursuing the Orcs.
The Clerics recognized the mark of the Deity upon Paullan and took him to the Temple. There he was tested and accepted into the order. The acceptance and inclusion were welcomed by Paullan, for whom this was a new experience. Years passed in meditation and training. The strict regimen was a welcome relief from the memories that haunted him, for he assumed his two closest friends had perished.
When his training was complete, Paullan joined the Paladins on the frontier. Here is quest for vengeance was quickly quenched by the horror of war. Disillusioned he left the order to find his own way, to find fame and fortune. One fateful day a courier found him in a tavern, bearing a sealed scroll. The message bore the sign of Haraldo........

Paullan is a human male of average build. The trials and tribulations of life have left his hair prematurely white. His skin is darkened by the years beneath the sun. While skilled in the use of martial weapons and armor, his real calling is the use of divine power for the protection and healing of his comrades, and the destruction of his foes.
