Until recently Miranda was a regular citizen living in King's Row and working in Steel Canyon. And just like all citizens she got held at gun point till a hero scared the thugs away. Only to have to go through it again the next day.
And she got fed up. So she asked the heroes that came to her rescue how they had become so strong. Most of them ignored her pleas and flew off, but finally one hero stopped and explained a few things, and she was shocked to learn the truth. Apparently he had gone to the BioptechniX store and had special implants installed that gave him the skills and protection. The hero suit was just to warn off the villains, and keep his true identity hidden.
So Miranda decided to do the same. She got her implants and her spandex, and the villains ran scared when she arrived. But unfortunately so did her friends. It was quite a predicament.
Then one day she got out of the house without her spandex. Of course the got mugged not even a block from her house. Out of reflex she pulled her katana, and dispensed the thugs. She expected to see her face on the papers as exposed hero, but nothing happened. The thugs must have been to embarrassed to admit it.
So she dumped the spandex for good, and just used the best disguise of all, walking in plain sight.
