Saphira Mordechai was born to renowned Nuclear Physicist, Ami Mordechai, just two months after the death of her husband, Ariel, in the Battle for Jerusalem. She was raised with her twin sister, Shoshana, in the settlement of Ain Aqrabim in southern Israel near the nuclear power-plant and lab complex at Dimona where their mother worked.
During the girls' Bat Mitzvah, a small group of Hizb'Allah extremists attempted to kidnap her mother and several guests at the party. Her outrage became tangible as bolts of energy erupted from her hands damaging the hotel ballroom, and killing many of the terrorists. Though none of the guests were harmed, one of the terrorists shot and killed her mother.
The newly fledged teenage superhero vowed that as far as it weas in her power, she would not allow such evil to continue to plague mankind.
