Hi Claudia100,
Welcome to the forums!
As your link suggests, you need to register first. That will put you into the lottery for free access. Couple of items worth mentioning.
1)This is for SoG access only. The release date for DnL is April 27, 2006. So you happen to win the lottery, it will only give you access until the release of DnL.
2)From what I have gathered on the offical DnL forums, the lottery is currently broken or being held off (not sure which). This is good news for latecomers since none of the available spots have been filled.
3)Keep in mind that SoG is NOT DnL. SoG will only show you some of the basic mechanics of player leveling, pet use, fort construction/seiges, PvP, race/class combinations, traval methods, etc. DnL will have a deeper skill tree, player economy and crafting system, effective player attributes, and unlocked territories to explore among other things.
Don't let item 3 deter you in registering. There is plenty in SoG to entertain and to give you a sense of what DnL will offer.

So how many people have access to SoG now? I figured they would be vamping up the amount of people in there now to get all their stress tests and what not taken care of before launch. So is it crowded?

Not sure how many have access to SoG. Anyone that preoders DnL get to play SoG until it closes prior to DnL release.
There aren't that many players online at the times I log on. There are the usual players I see all the time, but the territory is so vast it's easy to not see someone.
I think most people have quit SoG due to lack of content and are waiting for the release.

Well it is almost here SoG seemed like the appetiser to me. Just enough to keep you satisfied until the game launched.

I didn't realize that you played SoG, Jeni. What are your plans for Dark and Light? Going to play Light or Dark? Do you have a barony? Did you know you will be able to transfer one of your characters level over?
