I am trying to get an idea how the game is faring, but all seems rather quiet. The forum here is dead as always, but main board is not much better. And the only news the devs are sharing are a few wallpaper pictures. I love to know how the game is progressing.
- Are the first political parties founded?
- And how many made it to Duke, and have their own castle?
- Who has the overhand? Dark or light?
- How much of the land has been mapped by now?
- How is the economy doing?
- Are there already high level crafters or armor comes from loot?
So many questions, but the devs are too quiet. Anybody able to tell us a bit more?

Some good questions. I'll try to answer the best I can.
First, to be able to have a castle you need SXP at 20, meaning that your social level is 20. When the game went live the social xp was broken. It eventually was fixed with a patch, but it took about 3 weeks. Once it was fixed the Pioneers in large guilds were the first to be able to place a castle, since a Pioneer recieved level 10 SXP on inheritence and those in large guilds increased SXP faster than smaller ones.
Second, the Duke and political party questions I'm not sure about. But it's based those getting castles (and holding them) first.
Third, my guess is that Dark has the upper hand. That's just based on feedback I've recieved while I was in game.
Fourth, a guildmate of mine already mapped the terrain within a week or two. He was a Pioneer of course, with access to a Dragon. Also, he did it before the transportation system broke.
Finally, as to the crafters and the economy, they were held back for a number of reasons. As I mentioned before the transportation system was broken, which made it impossible to travel to the different cities/towns for the appropriate crafting stands. Also there was a bug in the crafting formula for weapons and armor (it gave outlandish stats to the items), which was introduced in one of the patches. To solve that problem Farlan/NP3 decieded to have a rollback, which didn't solve the problem, but did disgust alot of people. They eventually solved that problem with a server side patch and gave those players affected with the rollback a bone. There are players at the Master level in crafting, but last I checked jewelery reciepes aren't implemented yet.
As for me, I'm looking for other MMORPGs. I will not pay to play this game as it is. Every patch they introduced caused more problems than they solved. They then stated that they would test the patches first on a test server. They introduced a patch after that statement, which one would assume was tested. That patch caused more problems and again stated that they really would test all future patches. And that was the last of the news until the wallpapers were issued.
Oh, one additional thing that gripes me is that the quest system is bugged. If you get quests that require killing a mob and getting a drop, then its a waste of time. However, if you need to kill certain mobs just for the kill, or you need to make a delievery, those work fine. It seems though that most of the quests are "kill mob/get drop" type quests.
Well....hope I somewhat answered your questions. I don't want to turn anyone off to the game. I'm sure they'll eventually get it turned around.
Phedre_D...any MMO recommendations for a player? At least until the Pirates of the Burning Sea is released. :)

Thanks Camper! That was a much better answer than I had hoped for. I already the impression the game was not doing so well. And to hear a die-hard fan like you giving up on it makes my darkest worries come true. It is such a pity. It had all concepts for a great game. I guess it is just not that simple to make a working game. Hopefully they can solve their issues and get it all in place before everybody abandons it. But it looks grim, I think.
I am still hooked on City of Heroes/Villains. But I am also eagerly waiting the release of new MMOPRGs. Especially Vanguard and Spellborn. There are bunch of other good looking games out there, but I'll stick summer out as superhero.

Yes, I forgot about Spellborn.
I may just give the MMOs a break until Spellborn or PoBS comes out.
