The Captain's Ship Guide

I went to visit The Captain's Ship Guide. And as usual I was highly impressed. There are a lot of details stuffed into it. After reading the info on two of the ships I was getting a bit worried, though. I know close to nothing about sailing and naval history. All these details made me wonder if this game is something for me. And with me, 90% of the MMO playing community. Details are cool, but I hope they are not making it unplayable complex. Am I worried over nothing?

RE: The Captain's Ship Guide

That is a neat guide and I wonder if they will have corvette class ships and clipper ships. Ooo and they mention the Dutch a lot so it has to be good. Neat. I think even folks who do not plan to play this game will find those guides at least somewhat interesting and some may even be drawn in the to the temptation to visit this section every now and then after seeing the guides. Thanks for posting it.

What I don't really understand is why they have all these brilliant Dutch ships described, but you can't play the game as a Dutch pirate. I seriously think they have to reconsider that. Or will the game become to unbalanced because the Dutch will rule everything?

I think it is because the Dutch were the good guys making all the money so they did not have to pirate any ships that got it all done through commerce. Students of economics tend to marvel at that era as a time of superb application of influence on a global scale in a timely fashion on a global scale. Not discounting any of the other historical empires but the economic growth of that time from some nations of relatively small populations was a true marvel.
