i was looking at some of the other games Amp has forums for, and came across this one i have never heard of. it sounded a bit like Sid Meiers : Pirates to me, except online, which would be sweet. when i went to their site (flyinglabs, right?), it asked me to sign up for beta. i was just wondering, is this the right game im looking at, and it is in beta? and if it is, how hard is it to get selected to try it out?

also, as i am signing up for the beta, it asks me for a beta key. any idea if i need one or where i can get one?

Yes, the game is still in beta and yes you were looking at the correct game.
The part about the beta key I dont quite understand, it could be like a VIP code or something that grants you immediate access. I had that with LoTRO.
Anyway, I guess its hard to get in, yes. Purely because there is a limit to the amount of people they let in. But there are no real requirements that make it hard. A decent PC maybe, but not a state of the art one because they want to check it on every level anyway.

Im so annoyed, I applied for beta for this game before beta started and have yet to make it in. I so wanted to be able to test this game but alas I will probably never try it (unless they give a free trial).
Add to that, Im already testing 3 other games so now I am busy. Oh and I think that sign up is dual purpose. One to get into beta and two to sign up for beta. I believe they dont have an account interface yet so you dont actually acquire an account like in other betas. This is all a guess but is most likely right.

It could also be a gage of interest in the game by how many attempt to sign up for beta. I have not tried signing up yet but I am pretty sure I want to play when it goes live. It is a great concept and looks fun.
