| Is there a way to redistribute skill points? |

Is there a way, via a mod or whatever, to reset your skill points? Maybe I want to try a lightning mage instead of fire mage without starting over, you know?

I understand completely but there is no such thing as that type of mod. I'm sorry but your going have to start over. o.O

I found something on another forum about using hex editing to change your skills, but I'm real hesitant to try that.

It has an NPC that resets skill points for a cost.
the mod does more then that too though

To answer your question. Yes there is a way to redistribute your skill points without a special mod. This can be done in the Broken World expansion by talking to a NPC. Although you are still limited to on the levels that you have attained in Melee, Nature, Combat, and Ranged. Ex: you can change your Fire Mage into a Lightning Mage but not a Sharpshooter. If you do not have the Expansion pack then you will have to go with one of the mods on the net.
