Hi, i'm about to buy nightfall and i was wondering why my next char should be a paragon... i posted the same topic for a dervish and i'd like to know why you chose this character and what do you like about it. Also, how do you play, your style, close combat, ranged ... thank you for responding

I had a Paragon once, lvl 20, end of NF campaign, halfway in Factions, then replaced by a PvP slot, didnt have any 15K whatever armor on it, so thats not a big loss.
I mainly used Paragon as just that what its best at, Team Support, 4 Spear skills, 4 Chant Skills, thus giving team boosts, one which gave the entire team around 60% absorb damage, and just some skills to actually do some damage, ranged ofcourse.
So far i know the least played class there is, little about them aswell, people just dont take good enough time to get familiar with them, and their ''good'' playing style isn't what most like, i prefer to jump in instead of being all back in the bus shouting team boosts. No Thanks.

It depends on how experienced you are with the game. Newer players will enjoy Dervishes (I read your other forum thread), but older vets will probably enjoy either.
Paragons are very effective for overall party support with their shouts. No one will probably notice a difference, but it really does help to have a paragon.
If you're going offensive, paragons have a fairly high dps and are able to inflict many conditions such as burning and bleeding.
And...they have 80 AL. Which is awesome.
They make great Survivor title characters. I had fun with mine until I lagged out and died. -_-
It's your choice on what to make, whether a paragon or a dervish, but this is my choice.

Deciding which you want to do depends on what style of play you want to try first. Paragons are are good on their own, but VERY good with a team. Dervishes are good either way, but their ability to assist teammates is really more of a side effect than a true assist.
my personal fave is paragon, because I seem to do better with team assists

Paragons are like rit/ranger/warriors in my opinion.
They can negate dmg and add energy and health at opportune moments.
They can do dmg from a distance similar to a ranger but the actual usage of the attacks is more like a warrior because they use adrenaline a lot. Also they have very high armor similar to a warrior.
The thing about them is that they are under rated in pve. So if you wanna go pugging they are not a good choice.
They are also harder to use for newbies just like Mesmer's(except they are hard to use in pve and pvp for newbies).

Para's are best used together. 1 can make a difference, but 2 can take control.
Their shouts can play off each other, and with a little planning and prearation do wonderful things. In PvP people demand them, because of their versatility and high AL.
in PvE people don't even know what they do.
If you have a friend who is willing to play a para with you do it.
or if you have no friends in the game, like me.
you'll end up having to H/H everything because no one wants you.

hey
i'm a big paragon player, i consider it my main char/proffesion
many people think that the paragon is a hopeless class that can do little to nothing whatsoever, but they r actually very versatile.
the truth is, paragons can double as alot of classes, without needing to stetch their points eg, a paragon/necromancer with the elite skill blood is power is able to support casters using alot of spells, and that have little energy managment particularly the monk. the paragon could use aria of restoration for a health bonus the next time he/she and all allies within earshot used a spell, combining this with blood is power would deny the health sacrifice. although this could also be used on the necromancer/paragon, using it on a paragon/necromancer allows you to use leadership support buffs.
also, a paragon can solo farm (although in somewhat difficulty) areas such as FoW and the stygian veil. i actually convinced a freind of mine who also plays mainly the paragon to give me the stygian veil build...and yes, it is quite difficult (wouldnt use it for getting money).
i am most partial to a build i based on everdreams cruel spear build. my ontake uses go for the eyes, theres nothing to fear, and i am the strongest to basically fill the slot of a damage dealer (i can hit around 100dmg to lvl 26 margonite warriors)
overall i would greatly suggest making a paragon, as they are fun to play, easy to make builds for, and are extremely versatile if one just thinks.
on a side note, some of the top 100 guilds use paragons as pressure players. although i dont do GvG, i have observed and seen that paragons can assist in spikes, couple with the mesmer secondary to deny enchatments/hexes when nesescary, heal and support casters.

There's an edit button that you can use on your posts to change stuff so that you don't have to double post ;).
And as for the question. I'd say definitely go paragon. I use my paragon heroes in some situations and they have saved my butt more than once. And "There's Nothing to Fear" is freaking awesome for a human PvE paragon player ^_^. Cheers.

Ok Ok I had to respond to this post. I DID NOT like Paragon at first, I was playing off and on, but the thing that helped is that I have 10 slots for charicters. I am an avid player, I have almost all 10 with Elite Black dyed armor and green weps. I mostly played as nuker most of GW but then I stumbled upon a build for para that makes the team almost survive anything. I now love para and that is the Character I love to use now. I am currently working on titles for him. I don't want to disclose the build because I don't want it nerfed. My IGN is Arcadis Osiris and if I get to know you I will let you in. Choose para, then choose Dervish and decide for yourself, but the good para skills come later in the game.

you summed it up Bel, Paragons, like mesmers are mostly ignored in PUGS, not like it's a big loss, personally i'd rather Hero/Hench than PUG now, LOL! 2-3 years ago pugs were decent, not anymore.
i played a Para and it was my first char throuhg Nightfall, i ran a conditons/offesive spear build, did not too bad. had FoW 9 hours into the life of it and about a day after the release of NF.
they're decent, i wish i could play mine more, if i had more time a paragon would definately be in my top 5.

I recently cleared the FoW with my paragon.
The monks got bored since I gave the team a 60% damage reduction with "There's Nothing To Fear!" and "They're On Fire!". Burning refrain and our SF eles triggered the burning of course. Just gotta love a paragon ;-).

those are the 2 more common conditions, para's are good for the more useful ones i.e dazing and the magnificent deep wound :)
my para has legendary survivor, fissure armor, shed loads of elites half way thru factions finished nightfall but now i dont have time to play him, i dedicate my GW time to my ickle ranger :D

i think there both brillant in pvp as in pve, alot better than every warrior. they are able to keep ther team alive and buff there attacks and do brillant spike damage! what more could you want? + ranged soooo even a guy who plays wammo should be able to play them!

I play my paragon mostly as a defencive char.
2 attack skills 4 chants 1 refrain 1 res sig.
Currently Im using this:
I run this build with my 2 monk heros. for the rest I take as much damage possible (mostly sousuke cynn and in factions the shock and earth hench) and a necro or something.
Can beat almost everything with it :)

One Paragon with Save Yourselves will make it easy... it's very possible to constantly keep that skill up as a Paragon... quite ridiculous, really.
IMO, the Imbagon is enough of a reason why Paragons belong in every top-tier party in PvE...
But if you've seen the Paraway H/H build going around - it's absolutely insane... you're basically just running around PvE with a GM-like power to ignore monster attacks and deal out ridiculous damage non-stop.
I love my paragon. I've had him since NF came out, though I deleted him once because I decided I wanted him to be my title character and so I wanted to get Leg Survivor on him.
I would personally say that Paragon is one of the coolest, but yes under-rated, professions out there (PvE-wise). You can do many things other professions do (deal damage, spike damage, party heal, party buff, condition removal, minor hex removal, reusable rez, cause conditions) AND you can do much of that all at once. Not to mention that, if you choose to basically plow through PvE as an imbagon, you can do much of this WHILE almost guarunteeing that your party cannot die...
Also, it should be noted that Paragon has a VERY high unmodded DPS.

I played Paragon when NF came out, rally fun but hard to get party (then without Ursan skill) I used 3 Spear skills and rest team support.
Deleted mine tho. 15k armor and afterwards i wanted to play it again but ONE character in nightfall is way to much. (Booring).
Paragon is fun longer then dervish!

they are really fun in pve, i wish i wouldn't have deleted mine.. all that IAS & billions of +armor shouts makes ur party last forever.. never surrender is like, the best para skill
