Hi all,
I recently lost most of my gaming pc due to a faulty power supply. Wont be able to get another decent setup for a month or so. :( Anyway I was able to throw together another pc with some left over components, and spare parts.
Now running:
1.7 GHz Celeron
2 Gig DDR 400 Ram
Radeon 9000 Pro Video (with no cooling)(64 meg)
Im posted to request any advice as to how I could enchance my UT2k4 FPS. Currently I average 60-80 until I meet someone in combat, then it drops down to the 10-30 fps range.
The things I have already done are:
16bit tex
16bit color
640x480 resolution
lowest quality everything
loading ut2k4 throught a batch file to disable explorer.exe
disabled all misc. video stuffs (foliage, fog, corona's, reduce mouse lag, etc.)
Im sure there must be more I can do, perhaps somehow config the game/system to take more advantage of my ram or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

The weakest part of your setup is the video card. the Unreal engine is rather hefty on it's video card abuse, so if you could scrounge up a diff card (say a 9600 or a 5200 nvidia) you'd probably see a big performance increase.

well your video card is definitely a big bottleneck though and the weakest part of your setup...
i've got a slightly better processor, less memory, and a 128mb radeon 9800 pro and i rarely have problems with frames on 1024x768 @ 100hz (i know, there's no reason to go above 85, but my pc acts weird when i try to lower it for some reason)

Yeah the video card is just under what I personaly reccomend for UT..I have an overclocked Radeon (9800 "non pro") it's OCLD from 325.00 - 351.00. It runs very well considering what its paired with. I have an AMD athalon 3200 and some corsair memory...1Gb.
Do you have anisiotropic filtering and trillinear off?..Anti alias..?

64MB nvidia something card
Verizon Fios Internet
My rig works great, no glitches or lag what so ever. And i'm sure my computer is nothing fancy.
