| Weapons and elemental damage |
|
|
|
Hi guys,
I found a good looking weapon on an auction and have the current high bid for it. But I had a quick re-think because it has elemental damage. It's a gold axe, max damage, +20% damage when health is high or low (can't remember which), axe mastery +1 x% chance and COLD DAMAGE.
Now stop me if I'm wrong, but won't some monsters be immune to certain kinds of damage, so it's a bad idea to get weapons with elemental damage? Or doesn't it matter? I'd like some advice because I don't want to spend my precious money on a weapon which won't be that useful.
Thoughts?

Im not completely sure, but I think Glint, around the middle of the battle will use this skill and start to heal from any damage but physical.

yeah maybe you'll heal glint but, except her, I don'T think you could heal anything else, it can't be bad to have some elemental dmg on your weap (for example, fire will badly hurt undeads, frost/water against fire...all that kind of stuff you already know)
GW:
-Artalas Foribir : W/E20 (shocking swordman)
-Mephisto the Necro : N/Me20 (fuel leaker)
-Me Unforgiven : Mo/W20 (Invicimonk...old lol)

I use an axe with fire dmg on my warrior and it works really nice in the mountains (especially on ice golems and ice imps). If worst came to worst, you could always carry two weap setups, one with the elemental damage and one without.

Yeah, like stated above. Elemental dammage is no physical damage, so it kind of depends on your 'enemys' armor. Though there are some nice skills (conjure flame/ice/whatever or something) that make you hit loads more with a fire/ice/whatever weapon.

I heard that Warriors are more suseptable to lightening damage because their armour is metallic. Is this true?
Anybody know what the advantages / disadvantages are of different damage types?
Is chaos and holy damage still considered elemental or are they their own seperate damage category?
I've seen armour that protects against elemental damage and I've also seem some spells which make you more resistant to fire and less resistant to cold.
While we're on the subject, what about the differnces between piercing and blunt?
Thanks for the help.

im pretty sure the diff between pierce and blunt is
blunt is good vs rock or hard enemies
pierce is good vs high armor since its armor piercing
sword is good vs soft or fleshy enemies
not to sure about the elements but
fire beats ice
ice beats fire
air beats earth
earth beats air
holy beats death(or what ever necro wand is)
death beats holy
chaos might be average to em all since mesmers can effect all other classes and hit there weaknesses..
I dont know I could be wrong.. 8P

Thank you for mentioning that elemental damages aren't the only damage types that work well against certain things.

You can make elemental damge work really well for you.
I use a warrior/ele with a shocking sword, max damage +15% dam when enchanted. I use conjur lightning so it counts as a enchantment for the +15% and adds damage for using lightning :D

Dasha, i think the elemental weaknesses are more of a circle, as in
Fire beats Earth
Earth beats Water
Water beats Fire
Holy beats Undead/Dark (the skeletons things in FoW)
Undead/Dark beats Fire
or something similar to that
