Here are some common cases that will cause graphics artifacting:
1. OVERCLOCKING
2. OVERHEATED HARDWARE
3. NVIDIA DRIVERS(but you said you got that covered)
4. THE COMPANY who made the graphics board itself may have or require that you download a special patch from them. This is true of EVGA's 6800 basic in the game Far Cry. Even though I had updated Nvidia drivers I had to download a special 'fix' from EVGA because of some crappiness that was their fault in the manufacturing of the board.
5. A FAULTY CARD. Sometimes the card may have gone bad for some reason. I have been purchasing and installing cards for about 6 years and there were two occasions when i just got a bad card and had to RMA it, then the replacement worked fine.
6. POWER SUPPLY. Don't over look that. Once I had a power supply start failing on me and I was getting artifacts but I had no idea it was the power supply. So I cleaned the card then put it in another machine and it worked fine in games. Put it back in the orig. machine and got artifacts. After trouble shooting everything else I WAS TOTALLY STUMPED. Then I caught a whiff of that hot electric smell. (some of you know what I am talking about). So I changed out the psu and kept everything else the same. VIOLA! Problem solved. Ordered a new power supply and everything has been fine since.
7. Poorly or uncleanly uninstalled previous graphics drivers can cause conflict. This is just me but anytime I install a new graphics card I always like to reinstall windows as a part of the process. I know that may sound anal but it just makes me feel better. But In your case I DON'T think that is the problem.
8. Power supply may be too low in wattage.
9. ANYBODY ELSE KNOW SOME OTHER COMMON OR UNCOMMON ISSUES THAT CAN CAUSE ARTIFACTING GO AHEAD AND POST YOUR EXPERIENCES. THIS IS ACTUALLY A GOOD THREAD TO DO THIS ON.

Oh yeah, that is not black square glitching that you have there. I got true black square gltching though for the first time recently and it was with BF2 and it was because of Omega Drivers issue. This is a well known and documented issue. But obviously this is not your problem.
Also sometimes I have gotten artifacting before then reinstalled game and/or windows and it fixed the problem. But again this is not likely with you. Just suggesting it.
