Call me a complete NooB, but help!

Ok. So I hear all this stuff about BF2 and how it's an awesome game, even better than AAO: I just upgraded my PC from somewhat good to fantastic, and had no trouble running anything or any game before. So I go out and buy BF2, and go to install it, and I promptly get an error while loading the game onto the PC. Then I wasn't able to remove it using add/remove software, so I had to system restore it. Re-install the game and aha! it goes in just fine. Get the patch, patch it, hit the icon on the desktop and Splash screen comes up, I hit play BF2 and screen goes black, flashes a couple times, then spits me back to the desktop.

My System is as follows:

MSI Neo-2-V, 800 FSB
Pentium IV 3.04 Gig, Prescott
2 x 256 Mb 2700 Apacer Samsung array DDR
Matrox Parhelia 128Mb Video Card, latest drivers
OnBoard AC '97 Sound, Latest drivers
Hitachi Superscan Elite 751 CRT Monitor
SMC 2.4G wireless internet

Anybody else go through this? I realize my card isn't on the supported card list, but it is a great card and I can't see why it would cause this to happen.

Thanks,

People.....

If I sound like an ass in this post I appologize in advance. There is a reason game makers have system requirements and list supported hardware. If you dont atleast meet the minimum system req's DONT BUY THE FREAKIN GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HERE ARE THE BIGGEST FACTORS IF YOU WANA PLAY THIS GAME GOOD

1. RAM RAM RAM....I can not stress how imporntant RAM is in this game.....I personally am running 2 gigs of Dual Channel PC 3200. Runs extremely fast and smooth. Load times are awesome.

2. Video Card.....Spend the money....you wont regret it. You wouldnt expect to get 1000 Horse Power out of a little 4 cylinder Honda Engine so dont expect to get good results in game on a cheap Graphics card. Last but not least....there is also a reason the second screen in the game you see is an Nvidia Screen....NVIDIA THE WAY ITS MEANT TO BE PLAYED....SORRY ATI GUYS BUT THE FREAKING GAME WAS BUILT TO PLAY ON NVIDIA CARDS.......GEFORCE 6800 ULTRA

90PLUS fPS

I agree with everything you just mentioned. However, i bought a ATIx800xl and have a gig of corsair ram and can run this game on 1200 rez everything high and get 70-90 fps. I am pretty pleased. My cpu is only a 1.85 barton OC to a 2.4 also. either way i love my ATI card. I had a Geforce ti4200 before this and well couldnt play. I must also mention that the x800xl was comparible to Nvidias 6800 spec wise.
