first off, the easy one. i need to know how to find my player ID number, so i can use unofficial websites to check on my stats.
the hard one is this: "verifying client data" it takes OVER A MINUTE to finish! the map loads in 30 seconds but that verifying client data step kills me.
i am running:
3.2ghz P4 w/ hyper threading
2x512 DDR
geforce 6800
and i use a RAM defrag program before i play.
i have people in my clan playing on 2.4's with 1x512 and crappier video cards getting into the game faster than i do.
i installed the PBweb app for punkbuster in BF2 correctly, and this took a bit of time off the load but that was before i wrote this post, my load times were higher before that.
PLEEEAASSE help. i have no clue why it does this, and i'd really like to get into games before all the crappy pilots take the aircraft and tanks (without gunners/laserbombers.... :shivers:)
thank you.

I had the same problem, initially. I turned off all AA and reduced the res a bit. BUT, more importantly, I installed another gig o'ram. These things combined gets me into almost every game I play first. The better to cap flags with no resistance.
Asus A8N-SLI w/ Athlon 64 3500+ (overclocked)
BFG 6800 GT OC (oc'ed even more)
2 gigs Patriot PC3200 DDR
WD/Raptor drives (raided)
Creative Labs Audigy 2ZS Platinum w/ Logitech Z5500 speakers. Uses both toslink (digital) and analog sttings (for games) If you are thinking of gettings these, You will not be disappointed....they are awesome! Love the front panel and remote for the soundcard too!!!
All lovingly netled in a Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case.
Yes...I screamed like a little girl the first time I fired it up and played.........very sweet!!!

more like the better to bomb the crap out of the enemy before they even get a chance to leave their main base. if you can destroy their aircraft before it takes off, then you can keep resupplying and destroying it when it spawns again without anybody ever getting on your ass. makes for a quick game.
but yeah, thanks for the info. i didn't check to see if turning down the resolution helped with load times. i did it once to see if my computer would cache the map faster and it didn't help. (caching is a bitch, too. usually gets me killed if i'm flying.)
i'll give shutting off antialiasing a try. and i'll definately be getting more ram chips once i get a new job. (michigan's economy sucks balls)
maybe you could school me on overclocking. i don't know a damn thing about it. my system is a dell XPS gen 4 (got a mad deal on it, so don't knock it), and it has quite a few fans inside it. i think there are two processor fans and two power source fans, and the power source is in its own little compartment to prevent heat from spreading to the rest of the system.
also, do you know how to get your player ID number???

but do you realize what you are saying, theonlyNw? i thought it was really funny... you complained about having to wait over a single minute for varification to complete. one minute... i have to wait too.... but its only one minute... is it SOOO long?

yes. yes it is so long. people with crappier systems and/or slower connections should not be getting into a new map faster than i do.
if everyone had to wait that long, i wouldn't have a problem. that would just be the the game being huge. but if some people get in fast and some people get in slow and it isn't related to their system/connection speeds, then it's a programming problem, and EA/DICE need to friggin fix it, and until they do, i need to find something that i can do to fix it.
cuz if people that play like i do get in faster than i do, the whole freaking round gets ruined, unless by some slight chance you have a team that knows what it is doing. (ie: using BOTH turrets on the aircraft carrier to hose incoming jets so your jets can get out and take care of them)
so yes. one minute to verify that i'm not running cheats is wayyyyyyyy too long.
