Well solo-ing only gets you more cash by not dividing money drops between your teammates,which isnt alot of money anyways.

The big money in this game is in farming for rare item drops,so take a team of henchies(they wont get drops) and go killin,sure you can do it alone and get amybe 1k more a run.

The other day i got 37k out of a +29 sword pommel of fortitude,which was aquired in 10 minutes of farming with henchies.

yea i go farming with henchies its alot easier and tey dont get drops and thats where u get the money from i was just wondering tho where do u farm low budget gamer

Well to get the best items you need to be in the hardest of places.

I usually farm the Ember Light Camp because you cant take henchies into the UW or FoW.

It has been my limited experience that the smaller your party, the more frequent the drops. I could be wrong, but here is the experience i had. Skill capping in snake dance with henchies over the course of many hours, and many killed griffins, i got maybe a couple frosted wings. Killing them solo yeilded 8 wings within less than an hour. True, this could be simple coincidence, but i think this is how solo people get so many decent items so fast. correct me if im wrong though...

Unless they changed that part of the game from since the beginning, Henchies share in loot drops as well as gold. For the obvious you just dont see the drops for them. Like I said, maybe they changed that in a Patch but anyone that has that guide, page 14..middle column, says clear as day they share loot.

well me and my friend does this we go international dist in elona, bettletun, places for good runs cuz i heard im not sure 100% positive but u got bettter drops in inter dist it workd good for me i made 50k twice but wasted it lol and had another 50k by doin smite runs, i used my ele or my warrior which was W/E which dominated the runs alot. :D

just in case he didn't understand: henchies is the worst thing to solo with cuz they get as much loot as real players and they're really stupid. I only got crap with em (when I was noob enough to farm with em lol)

Yeah, I tried farming with henchies once too *shivers*. That really sucks, you never get good stuff :(. And when you are a monk and take henchies, that's even worse. I have a healing monk so I run around a lot and henchies will follow emidiatly. So the entire group is getting slaughtered because stupid henchies don't attack but follow the running monk :S.

Farm the Mergoyles outside of the Gates of Kryta, the loot isnt good but theres a lot of it. After about 10 mins of killing them, i had 3 purples and 4 blues, with about 500g. Barrage is a must have skill though (for rangers) farming the area. I can solo it easily [ level 20 ranger/monk ]

Of course, now that Sorrows has been released, I find as a W/Ne 20 that I can farm quite successfully around Grenches Foorprint with just acouple of henchies.

I usually come back with 4 or 5 purples, 3 or 4 gold and a bunch of blues each run through.

I even got a green last night.

i takethe 2 healers and Cynn.

Im New here and not as experienced as many of you.

But I would say that the best drops come when your working solo. That includes even low level places such as around Piken Square. I get lots of Dyes in the lower areas and Charr Hides..and we all know the value of those. The Higher areas that you farm alone on can be very profitable in just the value of items dropped when sold to merchants.

When you go off with henchies the number of drops does reduce, leading me to believe the earlier statement that hench do get drops, just unseen. And sharing gold with them is a bother ..cause you know they're only going to buy drugs with it.

As for farming with other players, it seems to me the better drops come come..if less frequent when you have a full team of actual people. I could be wrong but thats always been for me the best drops Ive gotten even if they have been few. (Black Dye as an example) And I dont meant 8 humans farming, but at least 2-3 others without hench nets better dops. Mind they will not always be for you, but look at your friends drops in those situations, dyes and rare items abound...eventually it could be you.

Just my opinion and not a matter of any proven fact.

well hello kain and welcome to this wonderful site :)
right now I'm farming grenth's with 4-5 henchies and I get kinda good drops, and with the new chest system, I'm assured to get at least a gold item (and sometimes a purple). Buying those keys I'm not doing any big money but still I've found awesome items for my chars (so what I'm not earning, I won't have to spend it!).

Thanks for the welcome Mephisto,

you are right about the getting grand items for yourself in those areas. Ive gotten several items that I found useful for my other characters not to mention quite a few things ive given to my Guild mates fpr their characters.

Farming is a reference I suppose to a general task. what u gain from said task vary's from person to person. Some want gold for the armor they can get at the citadel. some need items for themselves. Me I need both..:D But the greatest enjoyment Ive received was from giving a gold Bow with decent upgrades and bonuses to a mate who just made a new Ranger and really needed a nice Bow.

I Also would go Farming if i was you in elona reach , in crystal dessert , killing snake drakes , pretty decent drops , an average of 100g per kill , unless you get an item which is usualy gold or blue and max/nearly max damage. this is how i get my cash :)

I have heard a lot about the Henchie scandal! I am led to believe that they do reduce drops, not in the fact that they are unseen, but (this is the BEST way it was explained to me) it is sort of like the Death Penalty. The more you have...you get the idea.

I guess it is all a matter of the number of henchies. (Remember the more you have) Maybe this isn't clear enough. Let's say that solo you have 75% chance of a decent drop, but with 4 henchies lowers you to 50% and so on...obviously I'm not exact in my numbering but you geet it.

In my experience, GW and ANet has provided many benefits to using ppl over henchies. It's called Guild Wars, right? So why not give a little benefit to the people who don't use the (crutch) henchies. ANet doesn't want a game full of loners, so you give a benefit to people who operate without the henchies. Plus you make the Henchies so stupid and "brave" that no one wants to work with em anyways!

An example of this fact is that, as you progress through the game, it becomes more and more difficult and costly to use a full henchie party. Missions are near impossible unless you have at least a few humans.

And before I click off and get back to work (much to my bosses delight!) I have found Grenth's Footprint to be the best place to farm for cash. It's all a matter of how much time you want to put into it. I made a total of 9k in one 1 hr farming run. I was with a full human group (8 ppl) and we farmed the bosses and used capture sigs, then we entered the Furnace (not doin the little missions) and we farmed it almost all the way, then we all got massively disorganized and became the Dwarves newest sex slaves! Yes, those little buggers love the whips and chains!

However, the best way to get cash is to run people. Noobs will pay almost any/every thing to be run to various places. I know what your thinkin, SCAMMERS. Just take a screenshot of them agreeing to pay you, then a screenshot of them blowing you off and submit it to GW Tech. I've heard that it is in the Code of Conduct that you shall not defraud, so if you have proof, they will ban the account.

I do tend to agree with you MLA regarding the idea that GW rewards players for grouping together..whats thet mission statement here?..An RPG that doesnt reward hours played as much as how its played? Seems to me that we have an open admission that Hench use while available is generally discouraged.

Or could it be just that they mean..heres 150 spells to use...you can only have 8. we've determined a combinations scheme that will totally make you unstoppable, but its up to you to figure it out.

Maybe its both.

I do however farming aside, think that in the later missions the Hench are gravely underestimated.
Whilst there is nothing more sayisfying than completing a tough mission with 7 other human players who worked together and won the day...its my Honest opinion and personal fact, that those time are few and far between.

i watch servers where gruops of 6 have gathered together in search of 2 monks, ive watched them offer money, beg and scrape. ive been in those parties, Ive waited countlesss hours for the saviour monks, only to have a full party with 2 monks, then 2 leavers once the mission begins. usually players ticked off cause they wanted to be heroes got killed and blamed the monks for not doing their job.

Well you can guess what happens next...the monks are pissed off. cause people who are dying have run off far out of their healing range to fight obscure monsters, leaving monks vulnerable and ripe for the slaughter. so the monks leave and a handful of good players are left with ZERO support, but agree to fight and die at least trying.
On rare occasion thats happened and those that stayed managed to finish the mission alone, based purely on heart and drive. something many players seem to lack.

i say now and will always say, that every mission requires 2-3 good players the rest can be filled with hench. To get a full human party thats successful you need 8 good players and sadly too many people play thinking they are ...how do they put it?..L33T??? Anyone who thinks they are Elite..dont play with them, cause at the first human error in-game they will log out. after all they are Elite and can't be arsed to play with "Noobs"

laern the way of the hench for missions grasshopper and you will achieve true freedom.

Drifting off topic a little... for me, I like to use henchies for the very reasons Gibson stated. Finding a good group takes too long and then the problems arise. It makes having a good group that much more rewarding, but also makes me that much more resistant to trying to round up the people.

When I go henchies, I like to go all or none (with the exception of using henchie Mo's when no players are available). The reason being that I can control the henchies pretty well when I'm the only player. They may not do what you want, but at least they're predictable.

About the henchie item drop thing. I thike it's a simple matter of when an item is dropped (besides gold), it has an equal chance to go to anyone in the group. Player or NPC (pets and animated dead excluded). So if you solo with one henchie you have only a 50% chance at getting the drop... with 3 henchies a 25% chance, and even less when you add more henchies. So of course you won't see as many drops with henchies, but you can pick up the same number as if they were PC's.

If you look closely, there are several gold sparks spouting from the ground where theyre items are, and they disappear when they walk close to them, this could just be something else, but ithink this is a sign of them getting drops.

Quick question.. I have seen a few in here comment that part of their successful farming comes from purple and gold items that they are selling for 1-37K. For the rest of us, when we come across purple and gold items, how do we know it's worth? I have a few gold items, but when I posted it on here, I was told an avg of 500g-1.5K for them. Is that typical? Or what kinds of things can us farmers look for on items to help us evaluate the worth?
