| No one seems to defend flags |

I have to say the hardest thing about being a team palyer is feeling like you the only squad that is playing like a team. The clan im in we go take a couple flags right of the bat and then we pick the most active one and defend it. But while we are defending everyone else seems to scatter and just flag hop. They take a flag leave it and go take anothr then the previous flag gets taken away agian so they jump back over and take it agian...and it just keeps going and going....if some more people would try to defend then be on offense all the time i think there would be more compition and you would win more games....it jsut annoys me when our squad sits and defends a flag almost the whole round and the funny part is that its our flag is alwasy the last one left to be taken. Does anyone else feel this way.

hell yeah.
me and one other guy set up an RPG trap on top of kubra dam and defended a flag against two tanks without getting killed. strong defense wins games. especially in assault maps. if you can hold all the flags for 5-10 minutes at the beginning of an assault map, the rest of the game you can slack off and still win it.
dude, i'd be happy if i saw the team even flag hop! most of the time i look at my map and squad list and half the team isn't in a squad, and they're all scattered throughout the map just walking around waiting for an enemy hummer or tank to drive by and mow them down!
although, if you can manage to get your squad leaders to invite the unassigneds, a good commander can win pretty much any game. i had the opportunity to play with the guy who's ranked about 18th on the commander charts. he kept switching teams and never lost a round for the 2 hours that i was in that server.

I have played mostly lone wolf since I'm very new at the game. I've recently started playing more squads. My problem is that often the squad leader has no idea what he is doing or doesn't even care that he is the squad leader so I, in return, have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing to help the squad. When your squad leader runs off and leaves you time after time, you lose interest pretty fast.

Ok, well first of all the best Team game Play's I've been on, have been in a squad and everyone in the squad needs to have a mic.!!!!
Teamspeak is excellent, especially when everyone works together, moves as a squad, and acts like a squad!
The TFH Clan Server in BF2 is an excellent place to do this. I've already made friends there that play at that server more often now, because of myself and our other new friends. Also I recommend you and your new friends getXFire. This has allowed us to get on the same server when we don't know what there playing. I'm not even apart of TFH and I play there a whole lot!
Next is your squad members themselves, have at least a squad setup like this: 1, Sniper, 1 Medic, 1 Support, 2 Anti-Tanks, and 1 Special Ops. My new friends and i have sported this set-up as soon as we realized what our talents were. I was the medic. We moved as one unit, we had someone take point, which was usually our sniper, and we slaugthered many! We also support others to do what we do now. All of us (squad members) have a millitary interest, or military background, use military combat refrences, such as LZ and CO. We have 3 formations, and commonly use fall back and push on, to keep our squad up to par.
As for Defense, Claymore's, Mine's, and C4 are the best way to do that! I usually just camp a flag point as a sniper, and have one of my friends as a medic up there with me. Don't rush in to revive them right away. Wait a few, then revive, that way they won't think your gonna come back right away or receveive aid! As a unit we made a circle around the flag point and held off most attempts to reclaim the lost flag. One time we all went Spec. Ops and dropped C4 15' apart in Strike at Karkland (USMC, 32 size map, and frist spawn point(MEC)), and when the enemy tried, they failed!
On TFH, our squad made a mark for themselves, by capturing all spawn points and keeping them, in a 16 player size map on Zatar Wetlands and even managed to go into the enemies main and all of us spawn camped! LOL.
My experience with my friends is a common example of how a squad should move an act! I hope you can do the same.

I should remind you all that alot of the servers now that have very active admins WILL NOT alow flag camping, and will kick you from the server for it.
Word of advice, read the team notice on the bottom left of the screen to make sure it is ok with the server wich is more than likely clan run............

I know this post is old but I wanted to post my 2 cents.
You say they are kicking people for flag camping? I say that is just plain wrong. War isn't about killing, it's about protecting. With that in mind, they should think about it and consider the strategic merits that come from protecting a base.
Sure you might have 500 kills, but that doesn't mean squat if you have died 1000 times. IMO someone that has less kills but is more instumental at preventing the capture of a certain area is more valuable.

once you've already capped all the flags the only things you CAN do is base rape and defend the other flags.
i HAVE seen admins that will kick you just for being around a non-cappable flag. even if you're just there to destroy the UAV/radar or to steal vehicles.
fact is, admins are players too. and players are people. and 98% of the population of the USA is completely retarded.
as far as a squad setup goes, i would not recommend having a sniper. the assault class is 1,000 times better for squad combat. the m16, ak101, and ak47 are extremely accurate. they can fill the sniper role well enough, and they're equipped with smoke grens, grenade launchers, and body armor.
best to have one of your antitank guys be the squad leader. you generally don't want your squad leader to be in heavy combat.
if you have to though, here is a trick i learned from being in BF2 Combat (a huge freaking tournament with lots of organization): it's called squad hopping. if your squadleader dies, you have everyone leave the squad except the people who are still alive and then rejoin the squad. it will make one of the living members the squadleader and then you can spawn on him. after that's done you have everyone leave and rejoin except the guy who's supposed to be the squad leader. even if only one guy manages to survive a fight you'll be at full strength in 15 seconds.
