i wouldnt suggest using a joystick
a mouse would be simpler and i am sure u have one
joysticks r nice but theyre not really made for fps's

I know everyone says go with the mouse, but I play on a laptop and that just doesn't work well for me so... For those that want to use a joystick. Here is the solution:
To setup or adjust joystick or controller settings, or to correct view or
control issues in UT2004, please follow the steps below:
- Go to C:\Program Files\Unreal2004\System and locate the 'User.ini' file;
open in Notepad to manually edit the "Joy=" entries.
Note: The Joy entries map each button or control axis to a specific
in-game control. The button assignments can be edited within the game, such
as Jump or Switch Weapon, but movement and axis settings can only be changed
within the User.ini file.
Note: Open the calibration panel in Windows Control Panel -> Game
Controllers to figure out which axis applies to what function for the
specific controller (X, Y, V, and Z are standard)
An example line from a User.ini:
JoyY=Axis aBaseY SpeedBase=300.0 DeadZone=0.1 Invert=-1
For reference:
- aBaseX = turn left/right
- aBaseY = move forward/back
- aStrafe = strafe left/right
- aLookUp = look up/down (aLookDown does nothing)
- To reverse the axis, add Invert=-1 to the end of a line (or remove it
entirely)
- SpeedBase = how fast the movement will be from that axis
- DeadZone = the no-movement rating (smaller number is more sensitive)

Hi, I'm new here, but I'm quite good on UT. Well, at least I'm not a noob anymore. Anyway, I've tried using a gamepad and it just isn't the same as the good old mouse. Just stick to the simple stuff. My gamepad cost a bomb and I hardly ever use it. :]
