So is this because of my bare minimum spec cpu or is it my internet connection? I have cable with a wireless adapter. I'm currently getting 11 Mbps

i'm on 4mbps cable and i'm fine, my friend however is using the same pipe from the same provider but lives in a different area and is constantly timing out. I am using comcast, and although they said their service was just peachy, apparently he cannot play any online games because every few seconds he temporarily loses connection. I believe he said the problem was a cooked broadband modem. After about a 1.5-2 years of continuous use, his router has just recently started to deteriorate.

Gathering,
Think it may have anything to do with me being on a wireless adapter?
Should I request new equipment maybe?

I called EA and they said to check my router config to open BF2 ports. I did that and then played with almost no interrupts. 100% better. In case anyone else is having this issue.

ty for providing a solution for your problem to future readers.
unfortunately this is not the case for my friends router, so there is apparently more than one cause to this problem.
i suggest checking ports before buying a new router of course ;)

ok, yes changing the router config. can fix the problem, but these problems occur mostly because of signal drop. Signal drop is as simply as it says; the signal is never at 100% stength 24/7/365! I haver road runner and run a direct connection to my hub, with a 100Mbps connection and I still get the "Problem with your Connection" every now and then. Just like said before, I too never play on anything with more than 200 ping. At that point, lag is increased 10 fold, especially on 64 player size maps. I good way to also help reduce the problem, would be to press the reset button on the Modem next time it happens. Last time my friends and I had it at the last LAN party, we just reset the modem, and we never experienced a "Problem with your Connection" ever again for the rest of the party!

Hi all.
As I understand it there is more than one cause for the "There is a problem with your connection" problem. I am going to tell you what was the cause in MY case and how did I solve it.
The problem was connected to my wireless. As soon as I connected to the router with ethernet cable it worked fine. But I wanted to play via wireless for convenience reasons.
Both my router and my laptop were configured to accept wireless 802.11b and 802.11g (so they were communicating via g). The speed was variating often (just like the lag was appearing often, get it?) between a minimum of 24Mbps and a maximum of 54Mbps.
SOLUTION: I configured my laptop to communicate only via 802.11b (11Mbps). It's slower but it's stable, the speed doesnt change. And anyway I dont need more than around 2Mbps to play via internet because my internet connection is 2Mbps. Result: The game works great with no more message or lag and it's beautiful ;)
I know that this may not be the problem of everybody but I hope I can at least help some people. EA is working on the new 1.03 patch which I hope solves this and other problems... but meanwhile...
Cesar
