Slow modem

Hi guys!!!I just bought guild wars and i am wondering if i can play it with my 56k moden and ENJOY it.I heard that it plays alright on a 56k modem but i want to be sure.Plz answer.

other than the slightly slow load times, I know loads of people who play on 56k, they even use our teamspeak server, tho truthfully they cant talk without breaking up, but they can hear fine

I'm on 56K until my DSL line gets connected (long issue laden rant snipped)
The initial load up takes some time. I've only lagged out twice, but I do get really laggy if I try moving around by holding the mouse button rather than clicking. During battles I sometimes lag major and it's a PIA because the game is still moving (ie bad guys are still racking up hits on me) but I can't do anything so as soon as the lag catches up I have some major damage delt to me.

Of course it's worse at peak times, but I don't know that I'd trust a 56K in high level play. Anyone playing high level using one?

haha i try to download the game on my firneds 56k, dont do that! lol, much better to have the cd, way to many big files to dl everytime u want to play if u use the dl'd client version, but from what i hear 56k runs good on guildwars, ive met a couple people complain of occasonal lag, but not often.

So if i understood well i CAN enjoy it somehow.Well i do have the client server but what's the difference with the normal one????

when i say client one, i mean the client you just download off guildwars, when you do that the game has to download more files to load into the game, mabey its just a one time thing i dont no, but when i trie dto load into a city for the first time on my friends 56k, it said i had a couple thousand files to dl, compaired to my comp where i used the cd to install the game and it says 900 files that dl in 1 sec.

Oh sorry man i understood wrong.Thanks for the info.And yeah i have the client.It takes time only the first time that's what i've heard.Well i have another question too.I heard that there is only one server for guild wars but many districts.Can anyone explaine to me how these districts work???PLZ!!!!

Ok, distric are pretty much just clones of the cities, if all the players were put into 1 distric, it would be chaos, no one would be able to read the chat line would go up so quickly, the cities would be over-crowded, and probably eat alot of your computer power tryin to load them all lol, they just make different distrects to prevent these problems, its still all on the same server.

it will randomly place you into a moderatly populated distric, but you can change the distric your in if you want to, int he top left hand corner it says the city name and distric number your in, just click on it and choose a different district number :)

no, once you leave a city, you enter a "Zone" its made specificly for you and your party, you and your party will be the only human characters out there, the only way to meet others that arn't in your party is in a town/outpost, or in the arenas. hope this all helps you :)

Well the only mmorpg i have played is lineage2.I rarely used any party there.I was on my own.What about guild wars???Do i need a party to procced or is the party necessarry for winning monsters and taking xp??Can't i exercise by my own???

Yes you can go alone, or you can take henchmen, they are computer controlled players, there free to use, problem is they usually arnt as strong as normal players or listen as well, you can solo certain parts, but for the missions (there big quests with cut scenes you need to do to advnace in the game) you need a party, preferably people but you can get away with using henchmen on them for the most part.

Oh and before i forget to tell you, the henchmen appear after the big war, so if you havent done the arena and gone 2 years into the future you wont have henchmen yet.

Well i knew about the henchmen but i know litlle about the story.I don't know what you're talking about when you say arena???Hey will i see the big war???What will happen??Will i fight with the help of any other players or not?If you have seen the fight why will it happen again?It happens all the time???Sorry for the question they are my last.PLz answer to all of them.

ok, well pretty much do all the quests you cna find in ascalon right now, war master tydus i think his name is (the guy that stands by the gates to the academy) and the guy that stands just accross from him will give you a quest telling you to get a secondary class, do that and then they will give you another quest that allows you to begin the fight and the war (the quest is caled something like "the path to glory" or something ike that), and yes you will have other players in your team.
