Runner's & Scammer's...Trust/Stay clear of.

I noticed that some people say that not to pay runner's until u get there & don't scam them.

Well that maybe ok, not to pay till u get there, but the runner need's to know he's gonna get his money.

So I thought how about a section, where people can say positive stuff about runner's that get the job done, and where u can warn people about the scammer's that feck off once they get the gold.

Well ive been run from Beacon's Perch to Droknar's Forge B4.

And I can reccommend (Mighty Rat).

He gets the job done, and when u die, its just great to watch him & his team m8, run to Droknar's.

Well worth 3k, I mean it doesn't take long to gather 3k from loot now does it..

Only me, I would have thought this would be a popular post, I guess not.

I would have thought it's be ggod to reccomend people here, as u nvr know who u can trust.

I know of a good runner that gets the job done for free.

But he only runs the desert(that means no drok runs).
Sabastian Trueheart is his runner character and like i said he will run the desert(anywhere) for free but tips are appreaciated .

I usually try to get a group to run with (might as well have a killing spree on the way and collect some gold). Or I'll try henchies whenever possible. A few times I have used runners and I have been satisfied every time. I was in one group of 4 with 2 runners that required payment at the end of the run. This was a hard run and we actually had to run it twice because even the runners died the first trip. on the second trip we made it to a specified point where payment was due. Everyone payed but one dingleberry who held out. And I mean he held out. The runners were furious. They were threatening to end the run, and report the player to GW. The rest of us were begging him to paye because we had already invested our time and money, but this idiot would not budge. Fortunately the runners did the right thing and finished the run but they were out 2g. They still made money of course but it wasn't fair. This butthead knew that they would probably finish the run anyway to honor the rest of us and there was no way to kick him. So, basically he used the honor of others against them. A crook in the game no honor in life I say. This person most likely acts this way in all aspects of his life. It made me wish that we could kill another player (in the game) and send him back to town, lol.

A monk called Sensei Golden Tail will help out with him and his monk friend on any mission for a fee of 1-2k, and if you fail the mission you don't have to pay.

I have paid a few guys(mostly for friends in my guild to come) and always pay half at first town(camp rankor) and rest at forge. That way if they bounce then you are already past the hard part. If somebody wants it upfront or at snake then find another group because more often then not he's a scammer. Also many runners get scammed also once they get there and the person leaves.

Another person is "Professional Runner" (wonder what this characters for eh?) anyhow hes a really good runner and can get to droks by himself w/ no problem, its cool, hes a crazy runner.

i had a runner for the elona mission. Ms Thuy, can do it in less than 7-8 mins for 1k. also dont run for a guy named Falcon Feathers, he scammed Ms Thuy he just left so be warned. Ms Thuy is really good and really nice i recommend him/her. elona is hard if u dont no wat ur doing :P

Im really happy to see that my post is now starting to get a bit of interest, keep posting every1.

Mention peeps that are good runner's, one's that get your cash halfway and begger off & the worst of all, them that join a party with no intention of paying up.

Then we all know who we can avoid or join.

U nvr no we might be able to compile this list into a guide for good runner's, scammer's & non-payer's.

I also h8 the peeps that join your party to do a mission, play till u get sofar in then, let u do all the work while they do nowt.

Miss Sweet Dreams is one such person to stay well clear of.

Anway keep posting... :)

And don't forget please r8 me, im trying to catch Swamp_fox up...lol

this guy runs anywhere! I MEAN ANYWHERE for free except drok runs but he makes u pay low. his name is Legolas Strife and hes a good friend of mine. hell run u from ascalon to LA for free but will charge for a drok run! hes really nice =P

I started this post so people can have a look down it to see who people reccomend as trusty worthy runner's.

Saves risking your hard earned gold..lol

And hopefully we'll be able to put a good list of runner's up if we get enough peeps posting here.

Burning Scorpion & Mr Flexion are 2 scammers pretending to run in Beacons Perch. I found out the hard way.

I reported burning scorpion to guild wars but i feel a suspension on their account sucks and more harsh action should be taken. What you all think??

I highly doubt that arena.net is going to do anything about these scam incidents involving people being rushed to another outpost/town. Again, this game was not built on the idea of character advancement and how far you can get in the shortest amount of time. It is about developing individual skill suited for a certain play style - whether you like to heal others, inflict damage, etc.

Running someone to say, Forge, is something that is taken care of outside the realm of a trade window. For that, it would be EXTREMELY difficult for arena.net to impose any sort of restriction/rules on people not paying these runners. Unfortunately, the ones that want to cheat you out of your money understand this, and take advantage of it.

I personally enjoy playing the game with a new character - this gives me more chances to fully understand my role in a group, thus making me a better player in PvP situations. Just my honest opinion.

If i recall i have read somewhere that Arena Net do try and impose penalties on scammers.

They like the idea of running places and enjoy the extra opportunities and communities it spawns. The only thing they dont want to happen is for people to get a level 10 to droknars forge, buy the armour and then participate in the Ascalon arena.

I hired a runner called "Angus of Avalon" or something like that, he was good, got me there and let me pay at rankor (1k) and then droknars (1k) was very thankful.

Edgwalkers is coming.

2 things, 1 is HILARIOUS guy scammed me 2day, was doing a free run, forgot 2 tell him and he said "pay upon arival" then leaves and blocks me lol wut a dolt well heres his name

Although he cost me no money, he will repeat, WILL scam u if u run him. Oh and btw my char is Leprechaun Of Nin, i recently retired from running (all the time) and am now giving away all my stuff. If you ever see me on, whisper and ill give free runs 2 everywere but NO DROK (2 many ppl ask 4 that, even in the frikken desert for gods sake)

PS:I was also secretly saddend 2 see i wasnt mentioned as a good free runner, i ran so many free good runs (im ranger btw) o well cant win em all

Oh, ya forgot to mention when i said "forgot to tell him" and id dint tell him the run was free, i picked him up and was gone in less than 5 sec after, then was focused on running but remember If the name involves leprechauns they are trustworthy (well not really but i just wanted 2 say it)

I have a runner who runs Droknar. Most of my custummers were satisfied from my runs although I did die some couple times.

My theory is if you don't trust your custummer, the custummer won't trust you.

To prevent scam and to show that I'm trustworthy I usually do this:

3k run, 1.5k at Snake, 1k at Rankor and 500g at Droknar. If I die before Snake I tell them that they can pay me 2.5k at Rankor. It might not be scam-free, since I can always drop my custummers at Snake or they can bail me at Rankor if I die, but it IS a way to earn their trust. Also, being sympathetic with them will also make them trust you.

So far, I never got scammed and never scammed anyone.

I hope these tips will help you, it's hard to trust people nowaday.

I had the funniest person trying to scam me yesterday and remembered this thread.

I was in Piken selling some items and messaged "WTS superiour rune of vigor 2.7k 500g less than trader pm me"

A guy comes up to me cant remember his name and says I'll buy it.

Opened up the trading window and stuck the rune in, he stuck 500g in and I cancelled it.

He said "TY" mapped out and blocked me. He came back about 5 mins later and started throwing abuse at me.

yes there are ways to report, and yes, arenanet does do something about them. All it takes on your part is some smart planning and knowing what to do etc. I will list how I track scammers, and report them to ArenaNet.

1) take screenshots. they provide hardcore evidence and cannot be manuplated. Make sure you SS (screenshot) your offer, SS the offer of invitation, and SS upon arrival. As an added precaution, once you zone out of the town you are leaving, spam the message again and ask if everyone has the money. SS all of the replies. All you have to do to SS is press 'print screen'

2) always set a payment from the get go. Say where payment is due, so that way everyone knows what the deal is. warn them that everything has been SS'd, and scammer will be reported to ArenaNet. I could not tell you how many times someone has left my group after stating this.

3) be friendly. if you are a good person, the people will be good to you. dont be snobbish about your running considering that will create hostility and a feeling of anger...which is not would you would do in a normal business setting :>

these also work if you are trying to be ran. post any other ideas that you have.

So the "Sorrows Furnace" update comes out, and I am searching madly for a map of somekind to get me there. No dice. I ran about 15 searches on various engines, and came up with nothing. Frustrated, I tried asking a bunch of people in droknar's forge. No one could tell me anything.

Bah...

A few hours later I am wandering around camp rankor and what do I see but a guy spamming "running people to deldrimor war camp... 1k each". I am thinking "YAY!!!", now I can finally get there. I sign up and put on my best defensive skills and head out with this guy. He says we dont have to pay till we reach the first portal near the dwarf miner that gives you the missions. As you can imagine, I am stoked as hell!

So about 6 of us head out and we reach the portal with relative ease (Even the lvl 12 elementalist made it alive! LOL) and he begins to collect our money and says we are heading to deldrimor war camp. I prepare to leave then he waves at all of us and says "Cya round suckers!" and begins to aggro every single monster in the area. As soon as we realize we have been screwed he maps out laughing all the way.

Scammers are jerkoffs and I can't STAND them. Above all else, they have SQUASHED any tiny shred of faith I may have held for partying with other players. In fact the entire reason I created my W/Me was for the sole purpose of running players for a small fee (between 300-500 gold per player). Now I don't even bother because I know that I am going to get screwed more often than not.

The thing that is supposed to make this game MORE fun... has actually reduced how much fun I have.

...I hate people.

I could not agree with you more. I, too, was scammed out of 4k on a run to copperhammer from droks. That is when the screenshots come in handy. ArenaNet has ZERO TOLERANCE when it comes to this, and it will result in having their account suspended or terminated, depending on the situation. If you have screenshots, they will hold up as strong evidence. I am sorry about your loss, however..did you ever make it? if not, Ill run you to war camp tonight for free...add me to friends list and I will get you there.

LOL Actually I died many horrible and gruesome deaths... but then I realized that it looked awfully close to the granite citidel and I gave it a shot. I walked south west from GC and low and behold a MUCH more effective way to get there!

Dont you think that all these people scamming is ruining other people's chances of becoming runner's themselves.

I ran 2 people to piken to start my running off simple. I told them both they didnt have to pay until I got there but one of them was insistent on paying half at the breach.

I got there and they both paid. Got to piken and one of them tried to run off. I pm'ed him no answer. then I saw him asking people to take him to yak's bend.

I pm'ed him one more time informing him of the way to report him and he pm'ed back "I'll Pay" quicker than anyone I have ever seen.
