I get the feeling that is fake, judging by the way the owner of the site types...However, I might scan the desert in my warrior and take a look. That's a very strange occurence if you ask me.

no, that is a factual item, i made a post in here weeks ago about the same exact thing, it's located near a city of enchanted bows/swords/hammers... I have run upon it 2 times, and it shouldnt have mysteriously appeared, it's located on the far left of the 'city', near or in a chest,

Just letting you know Samk, I didn't lower your Credibility, so don't falsely accuse. Secondly, I have a right to my own opinion, and you don't have to respect it, but you sure as hell can't change it forcibly. Anyway, now that a few people have seen this item, I think I'll believe it more. So the item can reside in your inventory, even after you leave the area and teleport to a town, correct? Oh hell, it's probably another quest item serving no purpose like the Gwen items...

I'm thinking it's just like Gwen's Broken Flute: a broken quest.
I think they'll do something about it later in the future since I, personally, haven't seen it.
If there is a quest in the desert about it, plz post it! I'm done w/ almost all of the quests on my main char (since I didn't feel like finishing most of them).
Well, I one time wanted to have the lowest credibility on guildwars.gameamp and went almost to -200 in credit, but in the end decided to change my ways and have positive credit instead.

i found the ancient weapon and tried to take it with me but when i zoned it disappeared. So im thinking that it might have to do with the forgotten one who gives you 15 attribute points in the near the fallen statue. The broken quest idea sounds pretty good too since none of the quests in the game are trigured by finding an item and giving it to someone.

omg plz stfu sam...I think there's nothing worse than somebody shouting ''OMG FKIN NOOOB!!! U SUK!!! MAN U SUCH A NOOOOOOOB''...thats just pitiful: he just gave his opinion and he didn't yelled at ya so I don't think he's the one crying here... for the ancient weapon I just don't catch: what the hell are you talking about when you talk about eternal sword or something like that? yeah I guess it's just a broken quest; the eternal sword was invented by swamp_fox as I heard. I saw it many times, everytime at the same place (near the ruins) and the only thing it did was to aggro every monster near us.

its not part of the 15 attribute quest in the desert i did it and all u have to do is get to the forgotten not actually take anythin to him and the forgotten can be gotten to by going to the ghost near the broken statue and then run across the statue to get to the forgotten

mhm I think he meant the post-searing item 'Gwen's Broken Flute' not the pre-searing quest. In post searing, the broken flute you can find just in old ascalon serves no purpose whatsoever (its for a broken quest)

Hmm.. hi new guy here! Just seen everything on this website, rather gd, but the missions and monsters and collectors need more elaboration...
Anyway,
I am still at Bloodstone fen (lv 18 e/me [dumb combination dun u think]) so i dun think i can do anything about the ancient weapon stuff. However I would like to make a comment about Gwen's Broken Flute.
In pre-searing, (Quest is named Gwen's flute, no "broken" there) the flute u will get at the river is named "broken flute", and if u buy a new flute to give to Gwen and let her follow you she will heal ur enegry (rumors are that if u give her enuf red iris flowers [r irises red?] she will give u sumthing. I have yet to c it for myself though). In post searing, when u get to the dunno-what-sanicuturam (sry can't remember, its in aschalon's realm), you will find an item identified as "Gwen's Broken Flute". Its near those grawls. I think it is really part of a broken quest. To date, I dun think much ppl have figured out what it does...
And I doubt it is in the game for nuthing. You don't decorate a wasteland with flutes lying around.
I am thinking that Gwen is dead at post-searing (of course she is dead, what am I thinking), and interestingly, the flute is located at the sanicaturm instead of aschalon itself (Why is it there?). Maybe you might get a lead if u can still remember what Gwen keeps saying to u when u bring her around in pre-searing (Sumthing about Mary Madgelene and her neightbours) you might try to take the flute around and talk to npcs (that's a mad idea, i know, how many npcs are there in aschalon itself?) to start a quest. Best bet is to either find ppl she mentioned last time, or walk along the road from aschalon to the sanicuram.
Sry for my long-windedness.

I found the same item over a month ago (so it's not there since the Summer update or anything). I tried the usual stuff, dragging it to another area, eating it, hitting a monster with it, lugging it all the way to the Lizzard of the 'Forgotten Wisdom' quest. Nothing seemed to work though.

I'm wondering if the Ancient weapon isn't a leftover from a discarded version of this quest:

I was busy doing the 15 attr quest a bit ago when I came across the ancient weapon. I'd read about it a few times, but now I noticed it for myself for the first time.
I went over the whole Arid see slaying any monster present, reading all the bleached bones, talking to all the collectors and NPC, but none had anything to do with it.
Then I met Yarell Brunn and I noticed something intersting. He talks of a fight between the forgotten ones, once they got ascended. One of them created a weapon that could lay low the mightiest warriors and shake the very earth. Qouted this is what he says:
"Long ago, my people lived in a city near here. We ascended and succumed to our petty squabbles. We fought day and night, brother against brother, till on of our number created weapons that would lay low the mightiest of warriors and shake the very earth. Such was their power that they brought our great city down, and my people have become nothing more than a memory."
The weapons he talks of might be this ancient weapon.. and since "his people" are but a memory, I think he means the Forgotten.
---
On a side note, the ancient weapon looks exactely the same as the Holy Relic Necromancer Nunne let's you retrieve in Sardelac Sanetarium. When brought back to her, she tells you she'll but it back in the right place in Sardelac. Perhaps this is what to do with the Ancient weapon.. put it back in the right place..
Anyway.. forgive me for my long rant.. but I had some beer :P
