| Do you write backgrounds for your characters? |
|
|
|
I was just wondering how many people write up backgrounds for their characters. I've noticed that most of the people I've run into on servers don't have anything for a background. Now I usually only write something for a character I've had for a bit and put some work into. I just think a little background makes the character a little more complete.

When ever i create a character i like i write a backround for him. If I dont get him to lvl fifteen i feel guilty for getting his hopes up by giving him a nice backround.

I've never written a serious background for any of my characters. I have a great story for my main, but I doubt that it will fit in the character bio area afforded to him. I guess I'll just add it to the story post on the CoH site.

I wait until about level 12 or so, and get a feel of what it is to play the character. I'm a very creative person, but I find that I need inspiration to really start things rolling. Level 12 is about when you start to realize whether the character matches your play style and taps into your imagination. Then I write a story based on what was created, and the things I see in the game. In FACT the game has inspired me to create several short stories and "comic book" images.
Not to go on a rant, but I believe that these games are more about escaping the real world and living a fantasy than stressing over how much XP you get for doing one thing or another. I have met VERY few people wha actually roleplay, and that is kind of disappointing. (And NO being a smartass comedian to everyone in your team does not constitute roleplaying unless it is written into your character.)
*takes a deep breath*
So to make a long story longer, I like to write bios for all of my established characters. The only problem I really have is that I keep running out of space. Can you imagine that? It's not like I go on and on and on or anything.
Sheesh
Oh-- sorry I ranted again.
