Which primary power is better 

Listen up here's a good one. Now we blaster love the range but which one is better? Are the new ones better(Archery & Sonic) or is it the old school powers(fire, ice, electricty, bullets, or energy)? U decicde

the originals are muuuchh better (fire, ice, elecricity,engery, and machine gun/ rifle)

and plus if you make a women sonic blaster she sounds liek a man :( ewwwww!!!
so stick with the originals, and electricity is my personal fave, my level 50 is galacta girl shes electricty blast :)

Sonic and Archery are really like hybrid sets.

Sonic is a nice debuffing set, similar to a psuedo-defender set. Archery is a good holding and slowing set, similar to a psuedo controller.

Sonics are GREAT on a team. Solo it's a little harder. It's a low damage set with no snipe, but the resistance debuff is excellent.

Okay once again this must be said.

There is NO best power pool. That the greatness of CoH, No power pool is greater then another.

Yes we all believe that our blaster is the best power pool. But Remember this, You may have always dream'd of been a person with a big gun, putting holes in the villians. But it doesn't make the Fire blaster anyless since he can kill just as many just as fast as the AR blaster.

Sorry to say it, bubba, but some power pools are simply better than others. My vote for Blasters is Fire. Initial damage and DoT, guys. You can't beat that. My proof for some sets being better than others is simple - Ice Tankers. You can't tell me that an Ice Tanker is just as good as the others. It simply isn't true.

Okay okay, Mal you have a good point *Cough Ice Tankers Cough*. But in the Blaster set (for the most part *cough Ice Blaster cough*) are well set for different game play.

AR: Over all can do anything, Good Single target damage. A couple of AoEs. And a nice Snipe.

Fire: lacks damage in the beginning, but it makes up for it in the later lvls. Has DoT. IT's first two atks recharge faster then any other blaster set.

Energy: KnockBack.....damage...not much else

Electric: End drain, nice damage, can cause a short (non-toggel drop) stun. again balanced.

Ice: High damage, no snipe, and its lvl 32 power is a Rain.

can't say anything on Archery and Sonic, cause i don't
anything on them.

So it really depends on your likings and game play.

But on the Tank part, srry Ice but you get 2 thumbs down from me.

I've gotta say that the new powersets are pretty lacking in the damage department and the status effects aren't even that good. So for a blaster it's not the best choice but with defenders it's half decent. I still swear by Radiation for defenders but they aren't a bad defender choice.

Sonic Blasters are tough to solo with. Vahz really beat my @$$ hardcore. However, in a team with some decent damage dealers, they work really really well. The resistance debuff really helps a lot, and it IS cumulative. So you can stack on a few debuffs while your team is dumping on the damage.

The downsides of Sonics, in my opinion, the Cone damage is lacking. There are 3 cone attacks that just don't do a lot of damage.

Howl - Does medium damage with the resistance debuff attack. The cone is REALLY long though.

Shockwave - Very similar to Gale. Minor damage, knockback effect. Good sized cone as well.

Sirens Song - Minor Damage, Sleep effect. I'm not sure how big the cone is.

Another problem with sonics is the lack of a Snipe ability. However, since my main is an Ice Blaster, I'm used to not having a snipe. My fix for this with Shyvver is to use Invis to get in close and then do my thing.

Next, the Level 26 power (second to last in the set) is a single target, minor damage, disorient and -Res. This seems like a power you would get at level 1 or 2.

Lastly, the Nuke. It's a PBAoE, extreme damage with a disorient effect. Not horrible, but I'd rather see it have the -Res effect AND the disorient. But, we can't have everything.

I'll have to go with Spirit. In the Blaster sets there is no "best" depending on your point of view. What one person thinks is great, others cannot stand. I'm finally getting around to the Ice sets, and I am finding some quality attributes I had not used before. A lot of it has to do with what you like to do. My Electricty Blaster is a lot of fun and well balanced, but my Fire Blaster is an AoE goddess. I just took good ole Buckshot out, and had a total blast playing him as well.

It's all a matter of what excites the senses. You can pick what everybody thinks is uber, and then hate the graphics. At that point "best" has become a relative term. The Blasters are alreay a bit more balanced in their overall abilities than some of the other sets. *cough* *cough* poor Ice tanks!

You can be effective with all of the Blasters, and all of the secondaries. Not to say being a Blaster is always easy, but you can make good use of almost any combo. It's an easier set to start with because of this forgiving nature.

Best is up to you. The thing to learn is what qualities you wish to posess as a Blaster. Do you want to be an AoE master?....Fire or AR. Do you like to have more control of the fight?.....Ice or Electricity. Want to unleash wicked ammounts of damage to a single target?....Energy for sure! And they all still have a little of the qualities of the other. I can really hurt a single target with Electricity and AR as well.

The look of the assault rifle is one of the "quality of life" things that the devs have been talking about for quite some time. People have requested being able to choose the type of gun since day 1, pretty much. It's kind of in the same line as choosing the colors of your power effects and so on.

I think all of the Blaster powers are great in their own ways... but when it comes to general personal preferences, there I some I can't get by.

For aesthetics, or lack of... I poke fun at Archery. I generally like what this DOES... but otherwise it's boring and feels a little uninspired - notice suddenly how many "Legolas" wannabes are around? Yet some people do pull it off nicely, like with a Robin Hood theme going on.
Runner up would be the AR - I wish you could customize your weapon. It looks sort of silly!

I personally prefer Ice, but of what I've seen... I love Electricity. Kinda sad and regretful that I picked FM instead. I guess my FM will truly come to fruition at later levels...

That's Archery that gets that, not Assault Rifle.

But none of the sets is better than the others. They're all different. Each has something special. Ice has binds and DoT, Fire has lots of DoT and AoE, Assault Rifle has more damage, Electricity drains endurance, Archery has it's to-hit bonus ans recharge speed, Energy has lots of knockback, etc. Pick the one that has the kinds of effects you like.

this is under rated it is strong, has easily the best snipe makes the best use of the rag doll with hilarious results.

have u never been whelmed by enemies, while at the top of fire escapes, or steep tunnals
a energy blaster can keep the numbers down and the fall taek xtra health off, and in a steep tunnul the enemy can't get up till he role rite 2 the bottem of the tunnal


fire is the worst

it is so boring it lacks a kick and the area of effects make pulling hard. the amimation of the enemy is stupid a lil fire and thats it.

How are you supposed to snipe by screaming at somebody? lol...

But he's right, all in all, sonic is definitely lacking in damage. A sniper power is a quarter of what makes a blaster a blaster. Except for ice blasters, their immobilization totally makes up for it, and fire blasters have the biggest damage.

Energy is a really great set for the Blasters, but you have to keep in mind that most of the really nasty enemies have resistance to Smashing damage once you get past the level 30 stuff. That's half of the damage dealt by Energy, so you do loose some effectiveness in the upper level game. Still, I like the set, and the knockback makes it worthwhile although most do not like it in teams. As long as you team with the right bunch it's fine.

Fire is just the AOE dominator of the Blaster sets. It is hard to pull, and the snipe comes late, but it's a good snipe. The recharge is almost half of most of the other sets. I guess that's their little bonus for making you wait so long in the build. Assault Riffle has some decent AoE's as well. You definately have to use a different strategy for pulling on a Fire Blaster until about level 28 or 30 where they make the snipe available. BUT, the difficulty in pulling is also offset by the fact that If I get more than one, I know I can also hit more than one! With multiple AoE's no less. A quick build up, Fire Breath and Fire Ball generally leaves a group of yellows and whites face down in the mud.

It's still just about play style and preference. I'm rather pleased with the new effects that come with the fire set now. There's noting like setting half of the warehouse on fire with my attacks! Too bad It won;t leave some of it burning longer.....lol.

Yea I think its really up to your personal likes and the way you play....each has pluses and minuses. I love the knockbacks and damage of my energy/electric/fire blaster.

If your sig is up to date, and you're still at level 31.....just wait. You have one of the coolest Nukes in the game coming up at level 32. As with the general theme of my comments on this thread "There is no BEST". Thunderous Blast has one really nifty little feature...... RANGE! You get to use your Alpha Strike from 60' away! And unlike Full Auto from the Assualt Rifle set that is a cone and does ticks of damage, You get a major damage tick, plus two more that are progresively less in about a one second time frame.

On top of that, a good portion of the Endurance that your enemies had will be gone. Somewhat on the par of Short Circuit if you use it.

I'm one of the technical guys in my SG for Blaster questions because I run so many of them. I really like all of the Blaster sets for what they can do. It's a good thing we don't have unlimited slots on each server because I would be running every single Blaster power combo in the game if I could!

Here is my takes on the various blaster sets:

Archery: Don't care for it myself. Just an aesthetic, I think. Archery, however, does seem to be more accurate than other sets and also extremely quick. Problem is, it tends to lack any form of damage deterrents (ie, keeping them from hitting you).

Assault Rifle: A very nice set, if a little on-track-minded concept-wise. A lot of knockback effects and a stun attack. Damage is mostly lethal, with some fire and a little smashing mixed in.

Electrical Blast: My attitude on this has recently changed. While I still don't care for the overly long animations on a number of it's powers, it has improved as of the last issue. Damage is decent and all powers drain some Endurance. The nice thing is that many of these powers also have a chance of returning some of that drained Endurance to you, giving them a lot more staying power now.

Energy Blast: This one was formerly my favorite. A mix of energy and smashing damage, all attack powers have a chance of knocking back your opponent, making for a nice game of keep-away. May frustrate scrapper/tank types, but that can't be helped.

Fire Blast: This set is all about the damage. All fire, all the time and most powers have a chance of lingering DoT. Also possesses a lot of early AoE damage. A solid choice if you choose a secondary set to ensure your safety from those angry enemies.

Ice Blast: Holy blastrollers, this rocks! A mix of cold and smashing damage, all attacks slow. With two single-target holds and two HUGE AoE DoT attacks, this has become my favorite set!

Sonic Attacks: Sonics are not easy to use, and lacks a snipe. On the upside, all attacks debuff damage resistance and they're cumulative. Mixed with a good damage-deterrent secondary (Ice Manipulation comes to mind), you can definately make yourself useful. Definately not one of the strongest primary Blaster sets, however.

There you go. My 2 cents.
