Hi all!
A bit about myself first.
I was an avid gamer until a few years ago (read RPGer) when I got soured on it. A friend of mine showed me City of Heroes and I immediately fell in love with the game.
A big appeal to me is the badge content. I love going around the various zones, learning the history of various parts of Paragon City, and collecting badges.
I didn't know what Task Forces were until level 20 or so, so I missed out on Positron's the first time around. I did all the other Task Forces, am omly missing Numina and Positron at the moment.
Which brings me to my dilemma...
I am a completist by nature, so I want to get all the TF badges, all the exploration badges, and so on. But now that I am level 38...I see that to achieve the lower level content (Positron and Moonfire TF) will be arduous at best (Positron...)
What are people's opinions on badges? Do you try to get them, are you happy if you pick one or two up along the way, and so on?
Some of the badges lead to Accolades (I love this concept) while others are simply for show I suppose.
As I keep playing City of Heroes, I realize that it will be very hard, and nigh impossible, to obtain all of them. For example, Keeper of Secrets and Positron's Ally seem out of reach.
Could I get some feedback on the issue? GameAmp tells us we aren't meant to get them all...

I love to get badges but missed out on so many of them with my main so now I have an alt that I am using to get all of the badges and when ever I get a chance to get a low lvl one that I missed with my main I jump at the chance if I am not in the middle of group or supergroup function.

I am not yet a Badge Junkie. I am still learning the game to try to figure out all the badges. But, am I right in stating that you could just exemplar yourself to the appropiate level with the group getting the badge? You would not get any experience for it, but you would get the badge. And isn't that really what you want?

Yes it is.
I don't really care about the xp or influence at this point, just very hard to find a group that will stay together for whole TFs at times.

I have too many alts to hunt down all the badges with all of them, but there are a few that I do, first and foremost Thermablaze. And if you miss a TF or trial badge, you can exemp back into it and still get it. You won't make any xp, but most badge hunters don't care. And the way it works now, you will be auto-exemped to the highest level of the TF. Try it out!

Yeah, I just recently did the Positron TF with my 28 MA/regen. It actually wasn't that hard. Find a couple other badge hunters who're high level, exemp down for the TF, and rampage through them quick. Have someone skip ahead for the glowies. Etc. It actually wasn't that hard. The fact that you have a lot more slots put into your powers means they're more effective than a true 15's would be. Just make sure the last time you respecced, you took your travel power before lvl 15. Otherwise you'll HATE it.
But it's doable. I just mentioned here on the boards how I took my toon (Serenity River) through the TF with only a lvl 17 controller (exemped down) to accompany her.

There are only a few characters that I take on badge hunting missions, but I truly love getting them. I love looking at my little collection. As for lower level TFs, I agree with everyone else. Just exemp down and have a ball. Since you're slotted with higher level enhancements, the TFs won't be half as difficult as they were when you were a fledgling hero. If it seems ridiculous to waste all that time without gaining anything, just find something that will be fun and will kill you at the same time - visit Monster Island or something to that effect. Once you get a ton of debt, the TF will seem much more inviting. :)

HI THERE!!
unlike a lot of people who have posted i am a badge junkie! i have to have all of them (except that stupid contanminated one)... i also had been missing posi until just recently... i know the problems w/ getting a team together, so my and my boyfriend both ex'ed down to the TF got someone to "fill" the spot so we could start the TF then that guy quit b/f we started... we ran the TF as a duo and finished it in less that 3 hours... if you don't have someone you can duo it w/ you can always get 2 people to "fill" then drop the TF b/f you start the 1st mission... yes you can do a TF by yourself, the missions will spawn for 1 and will be just like normal missions....
now sadly they don't have a way for you to get the missions that you missed that give badges... unfortionately you will have to try to find someone w/ the missions (i'm looking for the redeemer badge myself) that will let you tag along with them
i do wish you luck w/ your badges... every time i get a new one to my collection i'm always very proud (yeah i have no life)

I am collecting the "kill" badges, accolade badges and TF badges on Doc. the only TFs he doesnt have are the striga ones outleveled before they existed), the new one(s) and the shard ones (did first TF there but before badge still trying to forget the ordeal). I plan to get them. I dont actively hunt the location and history ones.
I dont badge hunt with my others, and do the TFs when i get to the level and its convinient, but dont kill myself to get them.

I'm a badge-aholic. I got my badge count in my sig, look and see the many I have!!!!
Positron and Moonfire aren't that hard, but I think Positron with how long it takes turns people away from it. You just need 3 people for it and the best people to look to for grouping in TFs are level 50's. At least in my experience of late and the auto exemping makes it easy for higher levels to get the badges. Moonfire was a breeze, and Positron... just 3 people to look for.
Warning, my stories and blog is not meant for those who are easily offended. If you are one of them, then avoid the link, you wussies.

On a semi-related note can anyone post a link (or just type it) on what contacts flow to others that lead to the missions that give badges, I.E. Spelunker. I am starting a new toon and want to get as many badges as possible. I even got the contaminated one this time.

well, you're not alone with the whole badge-junkie thing. i happen to be so much of a "must have them all!" type of person that my main tank, Death Conquer (did i mention that he's a tank) has "Heal Other" from the medicine pool. i hope to be one of the few tanks out there with a healing badge!
