video card won't run the game.

My computer won't run bf2 because the game specs say u need a 256mb of memory. I have a radeon9200 but its 128mb of memory. Does anyone know of a way to run the game with my video card?

without buying a upgrade

Is your card in the supported card list? My buddy is using an ATI 9800 PRO and his is only 128 and it runs fine. Find out if your card is in the supported card list for the game...if it is not then try different drivers or call EA Tech support.

AHA i had the same problem with my radeon 9200 exept mine is a 256mb card so i dont know if saem works with you.
now what i did to fix it was:
right click desktop>settings>advanced>smartgart>change the AGP speed to 4x and turn fastwrites off. it made the game work on mine. hope this helps in anyway let me know if it does.

Whoooooooo! First of all why are you even bothering to run the knifes' edge, like that? I'm talking about the border line for minumum requirements???? you shouldn't even try to play BF2 unless you have at least a Radeon 5500se 128, xt for the better one.

Listen friend, that's your major problem, because I don't think the new catalyst driver for ATI Radeon video cards changes anything for the 9200. If your gonna run the border line Minumum req. don't play with the 9200, but if you do, you sure as hell better get the xt version w/256 DDR. Wait! does the 9200 even have DDR on it??? that's a card from back in the day!!! LOL

In my closing statement I'll just say one thing that'll fix all your problems...

...GET A BETTER CARD FOO!

Re: video card won't run the game.

ok, if ya say so.the card runs the game smooth as babies bottom on low settings.the radeon 9200 has 256ddr yes, and know what your talking about, the 9200 was the dogsbollocks of gaming card only 4-5 years ago it is able to run most games on the current market if ya dont belive me it runs doom3 high settings with constant 29fps sometimes 35fps depends and it runs HL2 on medium to high at 30-35fps. not bad for a £49 card eh! this is why radeon beat geforce hands down they run anything geforce struggles on anything its not suposed to run on.

Re: video card won't run the game.

You don't get those FPS on doom3 with high details.

The amount of GDDR on your card doesn't really matter, it's simply a frame buffer. BF2 does not require 256, the only game out that requires it (as in will run out of space and turn to crap) is doom3 (which for all intents and purposes needs 512 to run it at max details).

The problem with your 9200 pro is a simple lack of support in features, some of which BF2 needs, and a weak core running at a crap clock rate. THere is no solution for this over than an upgrade.

Currently you can get a 6600gt, or a 9800pro very cheap (about 120 bucks) both will run the game fine.
