In Pirates you have 4 choices (at the moment) to take pick from. You can either be under the banner of 1 of 3 countries (Britian, Spain or France) or you can be freelance as a Pirate.
So what do you choose and why?

I'd have to choose pirate, so i can do whatever I want without having to worry about the motherland. Also i was wondering do pirates enemies to everyone in the open water, and if so that makes it a little hard for you and a pirate friend to team up. Anyways id still go with the pirate and be feared in the vast ocean. Maybe find some secret hideout or something lol.

The pirates all share a brotherhood kind of oath where they wouldnt do harm to each other. I believe this is something I read and even posted about but its lapse when/where I`did this. If I can find`will post link for you`to check out.
Im not sure at this time which I will choose, the adventurer sounds a bit fun but who doesnt want to be a pirate. I mean come on, its a bloody pirate! AARRRR, shimber me timber matey!

Actually I think I will start off in a country and get high up in the ranks to earn a powerful boat. Then if you can I will forget my ties to the country and change to become a pirate and dominate the seas with my navel boat which I didn't have to try and commandeer! Since I heard that pirates don't have the big ships(unless they take it over) the navy can earn. Hope my plan will work out!

I'll definitely sail with a British naval ensign at my masthead. No stinking French frigates or Spanish galleons had better cross my path unless they want to become prizes! As for pirates, hang them from the yardarm!

I'd probably go Brit navy. Every 13 year old kid is going to be a pirate. I'll take much joy in sinking as many as possilbe. heheh

Well, after going to the official forums and looking around I found that British naval officers rank right up there with pirates for popularity. If we all belong to just 2 nations (Brits & Seadogs) then it won't be much fun. So I've decided to go as a French naval officer on one server and an adventurer on another, nation depending on server population. If my ping is good enough I'll be a pirate on a third server.
I've also found that a lot of the Dutch players are going French. That will help balance the server they end up on. Since I'm in the Pacific Northwest that won't help me as I'll likely be on another server from them. On Planetside I had good enough ping to play on the West Coast, East Coast and European servers. Not on BF-2 where I'm limited to just North American servers.
