15K armor in one day...

So I am just sitting around waiting for Sorrows Furnace to come out and I am pleading with fate to drop about 100k in my lap for a guild hall and the 15k gladiator armor I had been dreaming about since I saw it the first time.

Pretty much since the game came out I had lofty dreams of getting my own guild, complete with hall, cape... the works. I wanted it all, but I was far too careless with my money to save up enough for ANY of that. I am the type of guy that constatly creates new characters and trys to tweak each one for a specific task... farming, running people around, beating the game, stockpiling money, ect, ect... I just get bored and decide to create a new character! It was frustrating to say the least.

So anyhoo, I finally have played through just about every character combo I could think of and decided to settle on a Warrior/Mesmer. This combo afforded me ALL kinds of neat benefits, such as being heavily armored and still flexible enough to customize my Mesmer skills to just about any situation. I was finally happy!!! Oh joyus day!

Sorrows Furnace had finally arrived, I was lvl 17, had my Droks armor, and a sweet chaos axe I purchased just for the occasion(See what I mean about spending money too often?). I had only about 2 platinum to my name, poor me (litterally). I was ready for anything. I set all my usual skills... a few good axe attack skills, some sweet inspiration resistances (Pysical resistance, mantra of frost... ect) and of course a capture signet. I set off to new lands.

I started from the granite citidel and went south west, just myself and some henchies. I encountered the sign labled 'Grenth's Footprint' and a grin spread across my face, ear to ear... I had arrived. I steeled myself and walked through the gate, eyes gleaming, hands shaking in anticipation.

I encountered the usual resistance, a few mediocre ice elementals and some stone summit. Nothing horrible in the least. Then I saw a couple of boss monsters in the distance... Oooooo, nows my chance to see some neat stuff!! I put up my resistances and charged into battle, axe flailing wildly! The bosses dead, I began to collect my spoils... and then I saw them. 2 strange green items I had never seen before, just lying in the snow. A hammer and a bow. Nothing too spectacular, but I endevored to sell them and make some quick cash.

I walk triumphantly into Deldrimor war camp and proceeded to the merchant who told me they were only worth 35 gold each. I was pretty dissapointed, but I thought I might be able to sell them to another player for a decent price. I auctioned them on the trade channel... less than 3 seconds after I posted them, I got an endless stream of offers to buy them! I sat back in my chair stunned... someone just offered me 50k in gold for the hammer alone!!! Oh... My... GOD!!!

After I sold the hammer for 50k and the bow for 25k, I felt my body tremble in excitement. I don't know why, or how... but somehow, I finally did it. I had enough money to get my long awaited 15k gladiator armor. I couldn't believe it. I went to Marhan's grotto and sat there in disbelief as I shone with glittering brilliance in the setting sun. My dream had become a reality... and all it took was a 20 minute stroll through Grenth's Footprint.

Thanks to the GW team for making all my champagne wishes, and caviar dreams come true...

if your farm in a 4 man team do you get more drops??
or is it better with hechmen for green drops?

From my understanding... it's a funny little mathamatical formula.

You take the number of players/henchies, and divide that by 100%... and you get the probability that something will drop for you. For instance if you have 4 regular players, you have a 25% chance that something will drop for YOU. Same with henchies, but they just don't show you what they drop for them. I find that gold drops more often when your with henchies, rather than players.

Now just because you have a 25% chance that something will drop for you, doesn't mean that you will get a green item... it does happen though. Since that day, I have only gotten 2 more green items. One was a Necro focus, and the other a Mesmer focus... I sold them for about 10k each. Sometimes you can get 2-3 in one day... sometimes you don't get any for a few days. It seems pretty random!

I use a group with 4 henchies and myself. I get a green about every 2 runs.

The green drops are VERY randon. I have 23 greens or somethin now (my whole storage is full and a couple chars have a few as well). I have farmed alot...mostly 4 or 5 man teams. Sometimes I clear the whole furnace and get none sometimes I get 3 greens just for me. Sometimes the whole group will only get 1 or 2 sometimes 8. So farm lots cause you never know when your luck will finally kick.

Lol that was a touching story my friend the green stuff arent worth as much are they are now well some of it! good luck with more of the green drops =)

Ive never had a green drop either!!! =(

Good story, glad to hear that someone (not me) is getting greens. I've tryed many times to get a green, but they never seem to drop for me. Oh well.

BTW Sheep you get some credit for an awesome signature, I love it =p

Ok I have a question, how do you get people to buy your stuff? I have encountered really nice items and when i try to sell or trade everyone just says it is not that nice. Anyone have tips or places to sell items?

If you want to sell items, you have to have patience. Just because you have something really good doesn't mean you'll be able to sell it right away. It takes time.

I have only had 1 green drop so far, but I got a Superior Absorbtion 2 days ago, that was the happiest I've been I sold it for 85k in about 5 minutes.

It's kinda funny, almost the same happened to me..

It was months back though..

Kept seeing those people and theyr fancy 15k armors..

I was so jealous , had around 4-5 Summed up and wondered where to farm..

as suddenly, pop, a superior vigor rune dropped..

sold it for 75k back then, and bought the armor ^.^

though, now I'm so poor again, I wish for another rune drop <.<

Lol i was Farming In Sf 2nd day it was out we killed necro boss..i got green shadestone someone in my farming team offers me 100k and 15 ectos LMAO!

I got my 15k armors in about 1 week of griffin farming with over 100k to spare. Now I'm saving for my FoW armor and in 3 days I've earnt 160k just from selling everything to the merchant alone :P gimme a month and I'll have it just which type I can't quite decided.

Wauw nice story. I found 3 Greenies but nobody wanted to buy them One Morgriffs Staff (I`m a Necro and I use it myself now, but my own upgraded blue bloodmag staff is way better)
I found a Bludgeoner and made a new warrior char for it And I forgot what I did with my shield, but it haven`t made me al lot of money. I`m just not luickey enough I guess.

BTW can somebody tell me if there`s a green bloodmagic staff somwhere? And if it exists which boss has it?

i got my 15k pyromancer armor in about a solid weekend of griff farming. since the fow armor for ele's doesnt look so hot ill proably try make a build to solo sf :p

This may sound like a stupid question, but I was wondering if the green items drop from only the bosses in Sorrow's Furnace, or if the bosses in Grenth's Footprint also drop them. I haven't really done any farming yet, but I'm about to start trying it out and was wondering if it was a waste of time to farm all the bosses in Grenth's too.

Greens.

Both places drop Greens.
One thing to think about, although the greens in general have good mods, the items can't be changed. MOst greens are over rated.

Although I would love to have that Firestaff :P

Yea, I have farmed at sorrows furnace a lot and I found that the best place to get greens is outside of sorrows funace where all of those bosses are. Now, I usually just farm the bosses outside of SF with 3 henchies (2 monks, 1 nuker) and can scrape up some SWEET drops.

A lot of times you just get gold drops though which you can sell for quite a bundle as well so if you dont get greens, dont be discouraged.

well the henches are lvl 20 each... and maybe they weren't noobs and aggro everything in sight and take em out group by group
