The fog of war

Hi, just a quick question, is there a way to turn on the fog of war for the mini map?

So far I completed the merc level explored every where except behind the walled of bit. Now im on the middle level restarting again its almost impossible to find/relocate the hidden areas/non quest paths again as the mini map`s not blanked out :(.

Any ideas? config files?
Thanks

Re: The fog of war

Hey man, but this is a great thing. I was very happy to see that I didn’t have to take all over again and loose the time to lighten every corner of the map. I think that the purpose of veteran and elite is other then this or to do all the quest all over again; I can tell that I didn’t lose my time in doing all the quest again because the have the same reward(like viper claw and others) just the one’s that give me skills and some preferred, I played higher levels first to see the monsters(was disappointed, the same but only they have more HP and some resistances were boost ) , then I wanted to max all the powers and use them, then the final motivation were the items(at lvl 83 is a great unique armor for example)

Ok…and now the answer for your problem(just discovered myself few minutes ago after giving it a test)I was never a good hacker but now I said why not and begin testing.
- first I thought the “World.ds2map” file has something to do with it but then I thought again that I had more than one party and just replacing it won’t do the thing, then I verified and this file isn’t modify(has the same length like the one that the original kit has)..the only things that are different for every party are the savegames in the directory my game from my computer. There are 4 file. I had several saves from earlier with my current party and other saves with a party that is almost at the fin of the elite. Here is what I did and the results:
- first you should know that your interest is only in 2 files({name}.ds2party and {name}.ds2radar), the other 2 are backups of your last save before your current one. So you actually have in the game the last 2 saves available, if you messed up the last one with a bug or something just erase the “.bak” from the {name}.ds2party.bak and {name}.ds2radar.bak. and have a new fresh save unbugged .this is a possible solution for many questions about it(I’ll post it where it belongs later)
- I took a previous save from act1(save q) and copy the {name}.ds2radar from it to the save from act2(save2). The result was that I was in act 2(save2) with no map discover for it but the map from act 1(save 1) was lightened till the point I have advanced with save1…very important you keep all your waypoints
- I did the same thing for the {name}.ds2party and the result was an early game with all the map uncovered till the end of the game(no headache further with this problem…lol)
(so you can just make combination as you want)

Now all I did was with my own main character and all the replacement was done without changing the name(you could hit F3 and you’ll se your name appears at the beginning of the file)…now I’ll try with different party..and I’ll test with a party that haven’t finish mercenary and one that is in elite..here is the result:
- of course you have to change the file name so it will be the same name
- I manage to take the map form other party on other difficulty and other version too…lol(the elite was from version 2.0 and the current save I was playing was from 2.1) so the maps are easy to switch

So the conclusions are(important things):
- the party and the maps save individual
- you can take any map from any version and it will work(the game started and I moved a little to the level…didn’t play few hours to test if it crashes but don’t think so)..and you keep your waypoints
- if you ruin a save you can get another chance from your “.bak” files after you erase the “.bak”

If you just want to make the map go black, just delete the "radar" file in your character's savegame folder. It records where you've been. The other savegame is what records your party and progress.

Or so I've read. ;)
