Class damage output

I've been playing a combat mage for some time now and started a ranged char to compare the "surviveability" of the chars. I noticed that the ranged dmg output is far beyond a combat mages dmg output. (mage nearly has twice as much dmg)
Does anyone know if that will change till max level, or stay this way? Furthermore i'd like to know if some1 can tell me how much damage a melee char can dish out.

edit: is there a way to downsize your avatar picture?

Re: Class damage output

The combat mage and the dual-wielder are the ones that do the most dmg, for example a dual wielder at lvl 80 did between 1500-2500 dmg, the combat mage could do more dmg with a fire spell but this cost more mana and you’ll have to consider the resistances of the monsters. there are many monsters that regenerate from lightning and death magic(on elite difficulty the have more than 100% resistance)…usually they have less resistance to melee and range then magic. My favorite build is a human dual-wielder and I stay with it

Oh nice,...
good to hear since i m playing a lightning combat mage -.-
Might try a melee as well but i simply love lightning (not because of the stats but because auf the style and looks). Sounds as if there is not much use for combat mages in the later difficulties.

Lightning is good in the beginning, then you can switch on fire when you meet the ones that have more then 100% resistance(on elite)…the skill point are more then enough to max fire and lightning

Re: Class damage output

My level 84 Taar (nature magic) does 2299 minimum damage! But my ranged characters only do about 400 damage. I think the best characters with the most damage are melee fighters as they attack alot faster than for example ranged character...

Wow i oughta skull spray any ranger that challenges a CM's DPS >_> I dont think anything out damages Skull Spray at point blank range, especially after Rot. Maybe Embers does after Dehydrate, really fast dmg and burning
