I KNOW HOW TO MAKE WHITE DYE

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BUY ONE YELLOW DYE AND KEEP MIXIN

SILVERS TO MAKE IT MORE PALE AT ABOUT 5 OR 6 IT SHOULD BE

PALE ENOUGH TO LOOK WHITE

(!!!DO NOT USE 4 IT LOOKS GOLD!!!)

You can only mix 4 dyes.
Unless you're talking about mixing a yellow + 3 silvers, taking that vial and adding to another yellow + 3 silvers vial.
I don't even know if thats possible but I doubt it is.

Guys, he's not being rude to the host of this thread, he's telling him to stop using ALL CAPS because it's considered "rude" to plenty of ppl. (Personally, I just think it's really annoying after a while. Nothing to make me throw a fit about though.)

Please DO NOT trash his rating just because he STATED HIS OPINION. Everyone is entitled to their OPINION, you all just didn't understand what he was talking about which I did. Now you all know. ;)

Anyways, back to the topic at hand...

This can't be done. The most you can mix out of ANY combination is 4. This goes for dye removers as well. I've tried mixing more, but it won't let me. Even when mixing in conjunction, before, or after dye remover the outcome is still the same. You can only mix a max of 4 dye/dye removers and MAX MEANS MAX.

I've posted a thread on guildwarsguru about white dye (I was the first one to ask if anyone knew how to make it.) and no one has yet said it's possible. The closest I've seen white dye is on monks only since their base color makes a lot of dyes seem lighter tinted.

actually, it was directed toward the lack of courtesy the author of the thread has been asked to stop before, and not just by me, on several threads... as for owning the forum... so be it, i try to reply to questions when i can, give links when i can, and if it's my opinion, i state it as my opinion, not as a fact... since trying to be helpful and active is perceived as attempting to own... i reckon i'll just keep quiet... have a good evening

but on the topic of the thread, i saw a mesmer with full fow armor, that looked very near white with a shade of sumthing that struck me as green, but i maybe very slightly color blind, or it just happened to turn out that way. I asked her what the dye ocmbination was, but she wudnt tell me :( lol i can understand why, its a very rare color. but she did tell me that it was 1 dye mixed with 3 of the same of antoher dye. so it very well could be that 1 yellow+3 silvers is the secret to yellow. il post further findings when i have a chance to test

Maybe this'll help:

I've noticed you can apply dye removers to a single unmixed dye flask. If you add about three removers to one, you'll get a somewhat pale, washed out version of that color. I don't know how many removers you can add to one dye, or what would happen to silver with it. Silver would be my first suspect though :-)

Dyes react differently to different armours.
So far, yellow + 3 silvers is the best white formula I've found and it works well with rangers' and monks' armour, but not for necro's tormentor's armour.
Silver + 3 removers also will not work with the necro armour.

Yep, gives it a bit of a washed out / pastel color.
Adding more doesn't seem to add any more of the effect though.
Oh, and the mix always looks a bit old-reddish in the flask, regardless of its true color.

Maybe not to you, and I wouldn't particularly call it rude, but many people (including myself) find it rather annoying. I believe it has been proven that all caps makes it harder to read for the average man, and maybe even the above-average man.

I won't ask you to stop writing in all caps, but all I have to say is that UC Cat is one of the nicest (and humblest) GW players I've played with. Nobody should bash anybody else's opinions, ever, whether its online or in person.

Besides which, the study is there. Writing in all caps is a strain on the eyes to read. I'll leave the decision up to you, I can't force any ideas down your throat.

Question about a "white dye". What happens if you apply numerous dye removers to the same item? Would it eventually turn white that way? Or is there a "base" color that the armors and weapons would turn?

And I agree, UC Cat has always been super friendly and helpful to me on here as well.

No no don't take what I said the wrong way, I know you didn't mean any harm, which is why I don't think its "rude." I was just saying, you can't assume everybody's thoughts of what's ok and what's not is that same as yours (not that you do, but I think you get what I mean). Thanks for taking to consideration, sorry if my comment caused you any trouble or anything.

Also, I think that somebody said there was a cap at how many dyes or dye removers can be mixed, I think it was 4.

sorry zan... didnt mean to cause such a ruckus (maybe I was extra cranky that day :P ) but just about anywhere online, from MIRC, to moderated channels, to peer to peer file sharing chats to message boards and forums... it's considered poor etiquette... and in many cases rsults in automatic kicking from chat... just an FYI for future endeavors

Hmmmmm, I don't know about the dye mixture or the caps and I guess I really don't even care. But I do know good advice and help when I see it or receive it so it would be a darn shame if UCCat were to keep quiet on the forums. It's people like UCCat and SuperSheep that make this forum as usable as it is, and both have even offered to help me out in the game if I need it (thanks by the way). Folks are very quick tempered these days I've noticed, we jst need to remember that it's all good and it's all for fun..:-)

I have noticed in some other forums that I am involved in that a major factor to misunderstanding and arguements in forums is that it is text based only. In RL you see body posture, facial expressions, hear inflections and laughter. All ways of determining if a comment is meant offensively, humorously, defensively, informatively, etc. In my other forum, we have emoticons, which helps somewhat. Even those leave a large margin for missunderstandings.

PLEASE, do not take things in these forums in the worst possible way that they can be interpreted. Odds are, they were not meant in the worst way you can imagine.

Now, on to the topic of white dye. What happens if you use dye remover on the basic monk outfit's color? I am going to test this now.
