really depends on what you want..
Blood Magik - mostly draining health / gaining health / enchanting and steal health..
Curses - mostly debuffing, slowing down, and those lovely.. " if that mob does 'this' action, spell deals dmg "
Death Magik - mostly about summmoning, damaging, nuking.. all that kinda stuff..
Since you can relocate all your skillpoints as you want, I'd say try it out..
for my works best - 12 Curses / 11 Blood / 6 Soul Reaping
as a final set at level 20

well, as a total newb, set your skill points to the weapon your using.
in PvE I found using a curses weapon with skills spread between curses, blood, and death gave me a good skill bar with Putrid Explosion, vampric gaze, life syphon, insidious parasite, weakened armor, and then 2 skills of my secondary.
this with a char below lvl 10.

i found it best to concentrate on blood and death magick as they are the ones that do the real damage but as you can recall points and move them about just experiment and see what works best for you

It depends what you want to do.
Death Magic - Use this if you want to create an army of minions, lots of spells here target corpses. A few direct damage spells.
Blood Magic - This utilizes the necro's ability to support his fellow ally. Monks will love you if you take skills such as "Blood Ritual" and later on "Blood is Power". Well skills are very good in aiding front line warriors.
Curses - It has been said, debuffing. You can make a character near useless with some skills. Monks will hate you for malaise. Very useful
