Doh! The stupid things we do.

We all make mistakes sometimes so I thought we could share our own stupidity in order to get a good laugh. I'll start.

I have done this a couple times actually:
You get excited about finally finding a group for a certain mission and you are about to enter that mission. While you were waiting you were managing some inventory space. Just before you enter you decide to close your inventory, but instead of clicking the X to close your inventory, (due to excitment of finally getting a chance at this mission) you click the X to close Guild Wars instead.

Ok, I came clean. Who's next? :-)

Hi there

so many times i've :

- sold the new armor instead of the old one.
- recycled gold items instead of ID

and once i've spend all my cash into a rune that didn't fit my char

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

I salvaged an item instead of IDing it. Luckily, it was only blue not gold. :)

I've sold things I wanted to salvage. But probably my worst was salvaging for a rune, but accidently had a regular salvage kit. No rune. I actually did this twice. Now I keep my salvage kits in seperate bags.

Deleted the storage character stuffed full with all those Items I was going to sell one day, because I needed a PvP character for a Guild Battle.

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

Happened to me a couple of times since the attribute refund points were removed: being asked to come and help in some mission, ok, I'll be there right away. Have to switch build to better suit the mission. Switch clothes. Switch weapons. Switch skills. Ok, ready to go.

During the mission it starts to look like my character doesn't have one of her better days. Definitely underperforming. Did the monsters suddenly get that much better? A moment of reflection - forgot to change attribute points! /doh

I remember it now ... when I hiked from Camp Rankor to Deldrimor War Camp I had all fire magic spells and all attribute points in air ... was a challenging trip!

- In presearing a monster dropped a black dye, and since I didn't know it was valuable, some guy I was questing with told me he wanted it, so I gave it to him. Now I still kick my own arse for that.

- Sold a gold smiting rod to merchant for 200g instead of selling it to a player who was asking for it...

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

Two of the worst things I can think of are:

Going on a capping run and forgetting to load up capture signets.

Talking to an NPC, then loading up a few protection enchantments, presumably on myself, only to discover as I am taking massive damage that I have placed them on the NPC. (think it was a villager or something) I wish I could say I've only done this once...

whew i dont feel so dumb for ding this (you guys dont think enough ;p): Mixing a whole bunch of dyes (around 500g worth) and puting it on my MONK shoes (can hardly tell the color changed)

Forgetting to switch atributes to match the skills.

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

lot's of things, let's see...ever bought 350 of the wrong material for your 15k armor? For my monk I accidentally bought parchment not realizing I needed vellum. Stupid citadel armor!

my first run through the game, I sold a black dye I got in pre seering to the dye trader (now that's not bad, I could've sold it to the merchant for 1 gold). For the longest time, I had no clue that I had over 5k because I didn't know about the platinum conversion after 1000 gold. So I spent all this time farming weak monsters just to get enough money for materials for my first armor when I had more than enough cash on me.

I didn't know about attribute distribution on my first character till I was around level 11...guess I should've read the manual or something :)

I've done lots of stupid things.

Mmmm...smoking...I quit two years ago and it still sounds sooo nice. But -- erm -- definitely quit smoking! Seriously, it messed up my dad but good.

I've done the accidentally sold/salvaged/used the wrong kit on the item thing many times. I've done the skills/attributes flubs plenty of times too.

My most recent moment of idiocy was at the end of the Divinity Coast mission. My buddy and I got to the end with all 5 of the Chosen and I was like, "don't talk to the Justicar, come over to this ring thingy!" Of course, I was confused and we missed the bonus that we had tried so hard to complete. I felt like a moron.

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

I've done 2 bigish ones that I remember, first was in pre-searing my warrior had a nice silver top with black boots.

2nd one was about 3 weeks ago, as I was farming and crafting items for 15k armour I decided I had a bad build on my character, quit started a new character and decided to use the old one for storage until I bilt up the new one.

After a few hours I swapped back to my old character to help a guild mate to droknars then after the run was wandering about and decided since I was near the citadel I'd go get that armour I'd beenthinking about. so dropped 15k on the armour along with 10-15k worth of crafting materials, then dyed it silver about 20 seconds before remembering that I hated the character name and build and that it was going to be deleted. Quite a sulky bunny.

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

Done a few stupid things, some minor and some big stuff up.

Same thing as before with the inventory screen but missing all the edges clicking the ground and running into a group of titans. Our party was not happy!

Trying to get a point across to a player who knew better.

Staying with a party that had no idea of anything for not 1 but 2 sub missions. (think the rez count was 15+ on 6player party)

Selling a green item at merchant for 45g :( , now have second bag dont show when selling to merchants.

Bad is doing one of the above more than once lol

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

umm most of the above i did once do a mission with no atribute points loaded. i allways take the points of then load the skills since haveing them in the wrong place during a mission. thinking i was clever took them off for one mission and tottally forgot to put them on again untill i was at the end of the misison i noticed right on the boss.
edit : with 60% dp i put the atrib points on and was much more effective

double clickcing the salvage kits and id kits on the merchants cant understand why they arent working end up with ten salvage kits.
double click on some silver dye to dye something oops wrong box again i just sold it for 1 gold.
i remeber someone who was frantic to sell the crap he picked up but forgot to turn off his equipped items and quickly became naked, weponless and very angry.

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

My stupidest thing would have to be when I was going to capture an elite north of copperhammer mines (furious strike I beleive) got 3/4 of the way to the boss, forgot my cap sig, then run back to town (hate having to invite henchemen more then once) then when I got to town I sold some items then switched around some attributes. Then I walked all the way to boss kill it, and notice I forgot cap sig again, so ran to town, got sig then went back and captured (I've done this multiple times since then, but that has to be my greatest).

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

Forgetting the Signet of Capture is a popular one.

One of the dumbest things i've done was delete my elementalist that just came into Ascalon so i decided to load all my inventory stuff on it. That stuff including a black dye, many other dyes, and weapons i wanted to sell. Didn't even notice until a couple of days after.

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

Okay, I think I will have to duck on this one:

Was my 1st time out as a Monk with real peaople on a mission. During the chatting before jumping into the mission, I kept reorganizing my skills to make more sense since I just kept choosing 'equip now' on new skills as rewards. Saying to myself, oh this would be good here. Didn't know you could just slide over a skill to another location on your skill bar.

In the very end of the mission against the last boss, the last tank ran back to Rez me (just when he had about 20 HP left) since I was killed 2/3rd before him - and then realized I forgot to equip REZ !!!!!

But the guys were sports and we did it again. Before we went back to the outpost we actually came up with a better strategy. God I was so red in the face! Too bad you can't shrink your character any further.

Doh! Monk with no rez, ouch!

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

I have done MANY stupid things. The worst was prolly when i was in lions arch... I had a C Sigili wanted to sell and a guy whisperd me and said: I can pay you 50 k for that. (maybe you realise what happened now :P) I started a trading session a sold my sigil for 50 k, bur t´when i looked in my inventory there was 50 GOLD. I was scammed. Another time i salvaged a gold max dmg bow to 27 wood.

Thanks from me.. see ya

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

This is in Pre-Searing

When i was very newbie, (i had played about a week) i made the trade of my life... I sold 1 black dye and 1 silver dye for 20 gold(!). A guy was acctually willing to pay more than 10 times more than merchant, each. I was very happy until i cameto Post Searing and realised i could have got 6 k for them. lol

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

Well, I have probably done them all and more... -.-

Because of the time of the day i normally play (let's just say "from dusk till dawn") i tend to notice the time i have to go to bed by the mistakes i realise am making. I start to play so mechanically that when i swap characters i keep playing as if they were the same. Examples: Swaping from your warrior to your healer monk and deciding that it's a good idea to charge against a mob of warriors (or even just building a supporter warrior -using hexes from your secondary profession first to weaken the foes while the tank holds them and then charge- and starting to behave as a tank...) or just changing builds and expecting that when u press number 2 skill u r always activating the same skill u had before -.-

.... actually i did it a few minutes ago so... good night (morning) everyone! ^^

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

My latest:

The other day I was doin a mission with some people. I went to pick up a junk item so I could sell it later to the merchant. Upon finding out my inventory was full, I salvaged some items to make room. One of the first things I salvaged; a bleached shell. I was ready to kick something after that.

Re: Doh! The stupid things we do.

1) I sold all of my dyes in pre-searing ascalon (3 black, 2 silver) Got 5 gold for them!!!

2) Make 2 of the 15k armor helmets by accident

3) Customised my gold hammer that I never used and wanted to sell

4) Went to the new collector in Ascalon and used 12 of my charr hides to make multiple belt pouches instead of fur squares.

Am I dumb or what
