| Balistics......What Balistics????? |

Ya know....my buddy Jeff and I spent almost $1200 each to beable to play this game to its fullest extent. I myself love the graphics and the game play but Jeff is extremely disapointed with the balistics and what not. I keep trying to convince myself that there is nothing wrong with this game and that it plays just fine. I have come to my wits end with the shitty balistics. I am so fucking sick and tired of dumping rounds into an enemy and him not dying. I sit there and fuckin spray and spray and he does not die. I have emptied a mag into a bad guy ...reloaded and dumped half of another mag into him and then he turns and fires a single burst...a single fucking burst and kills me. OHHHHH MYYY FUCKING GOD I AM SOOOOOOOOO SICK OF IT.
I wish I could get my hands on the fucker down at EA who designed the balistics and hit boxes for this game and bitch slap that mother fucker like there was no tomorow!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy, I've had this very discussion on other forums and this is what is the general concensus:
1) It is a game, not a simulation of real life. Therefore there are respawns and limited damage to better gameplay (live longer).
2) Accuracy in full auto sucks whether in real life or in the game. Short controlled bursts work much better than mashing down the mouse button to "spray and pray." Semi-auto actually works better than even 3-shot burst in all but the closest encounters in game and in real life.
BTW, in Real Life I'm a federal police lieutant and used to be a firearms and defensive tactics instructor. In real encounters bad guys only hit with about 1:6 rounds. Cops are generally only slightly better, hitting about 2:6 rounds.
We (that is, locally, not my department!!!) had a shoot-out this week where 2 gunmen took on 2 cops. Forty rounds were fired and none hit!!! Later the SERT (local SWAT) team found one of the suspects and hit him 3 for 3 shots with AR-15's. He's in the hospital recovering from surgery.
Another statistic: 80% of all gunshot suspects survive. The general rule of survival is that if you are conscious and able to move you'll likely live if EMS gets you to a trauma center within the "golden hour." In the game this is reflected by the medic's ability to revive the fallen and heal the wounded.
Finally, there is real life wound effects or "ballistics" as you are referring to. In real life persons who are mortally wounded are still able to function including return fire for 15-45 seconds and this is only a general rule. Some fatally wounded suspects are able to move, shoot and try to escape though they won't make it without medical treatment.
Case in point: Miami, Florida shootout between two armed bank robbers and FBI agents. One suspect was shot fatally three times in the course of the shootout. Only the last shots, fired from a shotgun at close range, terminated his assault upon FBI agents. Though mortally wounded (through an upper arm artery and a lung wound) he attacked and shot with a semi-auto Ruger Mini-14 seven FBI agents. He killed the lead agent and critally wounding the rest, putting five out of the fight. It was the remaining wounded agent who operated his Remington 870 pump shotgun one handed who finished off both wounded suspects as they tried to drive off in a FBI squad car.
The bad guy fired, moved, reloaded, fired more, finished off the wounded senior agent, captured the FBI car, moved his wounded buddy to the car, started it up and put it in drive when the final shots were fired. Both bad guys turned out to be former 82nd Airborne military policemen who turned rogue.
In another case a local rapist was shot point blank in the heart with a .22 LR hollowpoint. He ran full speed two blocks before dropping stone cold dead. Again, in real life and in game the guy you shoot can shoot back at you even if you hit him in the "X ring."

Yes...very good info...I am not in Law Enforcement but I have studied balistics quite a bit. From the articles that I have found...mostly FBI reports....unless you hit the brain or upper spinal column it is almost certain that a person will not be incapicated. I do security at a hospital in my town and have seen some pretty nasty stuff come through the ER. I saw a person come in with a gun shot wound to the head who survived for 6 hours even though they had brains coming out of there nose. This person was shot with a .44mag. So I totally understand a person not dying from even several shots. However....I do not think it is possible for a person to survive ohhhhh sayyyy 50 to 60 rounds to the upper body from an M249 SAW. This would be the problem I am running into. lol Or it would seem that way. I guess its just that I have been playing online shooters for so long that I should know when a game is built correctly. This game has some issues with its balistics and or realism.

Well, you were using the SAW??? No wonder! DICE has some real issues with the LMG concept. They aren't as inaccurate as they have made them in the game. The M-249 is sometimes equipped with a compact scope and can fire semi-auto (unlike the game version). The RPK-74 is also able to fire semi-auto fairly accurately, more so than the plain-jane AK-74 unless it has been shot out from extended use. Regardless, the number of bullets that is in the cone of fire is more than enough to kill anyone with one well placed burst. I don't get why the Support kit is so bad. It should be one of the top killers in the game but isn't.
