Ok I have been playing GW for about 3 months now and have 3 level 20 chars. How in the heck do some people have over 500K??? After buying drok armor and better weapons, I barely have 9K in my piggy bank. What gives? Do people just get it from farming or is there some secret trick I'm not aware of?

I have played for only about 2 months, have fissure helm and 15k armour, all my other chars have drok armour, i have perfect goldy sword and axe plus have over 500k in storage. The answer is simple, you can farm and get some good money (griffon, ettin, minatour, fow) but i make about 50k in 2 hours, but that secret is mine.
Hint: It doesn't involve farming anything.

well, if you read on the first page where the 'news' is posted on the farming...you will see why. 50% of all Guild Wars players have less than 10k in their banks. 75% of all Guild Wars players have less than 20k in their banks. Farming is the answer to all of this. I farm all the time, and yes I find my own spots. I find it really hard to come up with 50k in one hour...the only way you could do that is by getting a 'UBER' item that you sell for 50k. There are many work arounds in Guild Wars that make you have easier access to money. Finding these spots can be found all over this site if you search the forums. But rest assured, half of the community is with you, while only 25% are above that. And yes, all of us farmer need to watch out, because they are watching zone hits and will nerf pretty much everything. It wouldnt be that bad...because then, there really wouldnt be a need for money...and the people with the 15k armor, and the fissure armor would seem like they really accomplished something...now when I see people with fissure, I'm just wondering how many ecto drops they use to get while solo farming UW. My 2 Cents

For the most part there is farming. Just pickup all the items that drop then sell them to a merchant. Keep the good ones and sell them to other players or salvage the upgrades and sell those to the players. Sometimes a good upgrade components will be worth more than the item it came off of because of the margin of error in salvaging components.
Other ways are to salvage everything you farm. Then sell the salvage items to other players. Get those salvage items crafted into more valuable salvage materials and resell those to a rare materials trader at a profit. A lot of it depends on the current pricing at the traders though.

btw,.. blue letters hurt my eye's when i try to read them,.. please dont use them again :)
i've been playing for 1,5 months now and have 9k,.. one lvl20 N/Me and a lvl15 W/Mo,.. dont got 15k armor ore whatever,.. i dont care about that,.. i play this game becaus i think its fun and a good wast of my spare time,.. there are people farming day in day out so they can have alot of gold,.. dont see the point, well you can buy alot of gear and weapons but its only a game, i mean come on,..
i got a question,. its true that they reduce drops at farming spots right? So is farmin pointless now,.. ore will its still give me a nice amount of gold? i dont need 1000k ore something,.. just want to buy some 15k armor becaus i think it looks sweet :P

and I also dont believe you can make 50K in 2 hours legitimately, at least not every 2 hours you feel like it

Actually the way to make 50 k in 2 hours anytime you like is to scam "noobs". Thats why its a secret ;)
j/K Im not accusing anyone of scamming. :)
Now i can see making about 30k or so running people in about 2 hours so long as its droks run and you got a bevvy of willing people to pay the 3k it usually costs.
In any case, the only way to make an excessive amount of money playing the game is to farm, sell, farm, slavage, sell, or for the gambler and businessman, hang out in the larger cities and look for people who are selling expensive items cheap and re-sell them. Happens all the time. Ive sold off many a gold items well under their value just so I can get back to quick farming and or playing. people also buy charr hides for very cheap and turn around, trade them with collector for fur squares and sell them off for a hefty price.
All of that takes time. There is no REAL quick way to make money in my opinion. (except maybe running but even that can take time.)

I made 200k in 5 minutes making a trade. Making 50k in JUST farming in 2 hours is NOT possible. You have to sell things as well.
Another choice you can go with is going against, buying gold with real money. Don't do it though. But a LOT of people are doing it because they have the money, and are too lazy to go get money themselves.
Don't worry about getting gold anyways, that's not the point of the game really. I say go for PvP and getting to rank 10. Now THAT'S a goal. :p

Im living off 0 gold :D
Money isnt really important. You only really need it for a half decent weapon and Drok's armour. Although I spent all mine on 15K armour. My bow cost me 25K, I got it ages ago and im still using it now. Spending 2 hours farming is boring. It also takes about 2 hours to sell something for me.

Thanks everyone for the tips and advice! (especially the blue font lol) I just finished selling some materials in drok and went from 10k to 20k. Not bad! I still want 15K armor for my monk and ele though lol.

Green items are the "it" items now. If you click here you'll see all the green items. The last time I checked, you can sell Malinon's Shield & Razorstone (Axe) for 150k (or 100k +ectos) each. That's IF you farm for green items.
I know this because I had to sell/trade all my green items just to get both! ^_^
BTW, now I'm flat broke, but I put both Axe & Shield on my new farming/running build that's at lvl 14 so far! ^_^ (Then, once I get him to that point in tha game, I'll farm for Razorstone & Malinon's Shield and sell them back to the public as well since I already have both. Rake in tha cash! ;) )
Well, I one time wanted to have the lowest credibility on guildwars.gameamp and went almost to -200 in credit, but in the end decided to change my ways and have positive credit instead.

hmmm.. I run 5ppl at Beacons to Droknars usualy at 3k/per and I get alot of ppl wanting to join party that means 15k in one run, I can do the droks run fairly quick (around 20minutes or so) so I make 45k (if im lucky w/ no scammers and little stops) in little over an hour. I do farm Griffs and go FoW, my personal goal right now is Fissure Armor since Im not all too good at PvP.(P.S. I do free drok runs alot and for tips as well but thats usualy in the mornings)
~but still running non-stop for hours and hours for good pay is hard work seeing as theirs always the chance of a really hard spawn.

haha so true! there was a guy, probably the one in this thread, advertising in Augury Rock, saying he makes 50k in one hour. I farm griffons for 2 hours at a time...perhaps even more. I think my best run, i made about 4k and thats a high estimate. Thank god this guy isnt my accountant, otherwise, i would be screwed.

hey guys i dont get how all of u can make so much farming or through salvaging, i mean i farm griffons along with the ettins and sometimes when im up for an adrenaline rush the tengu, havent tried the avicara and by the looks of the state my friends HP went down i think it will be a while b4 i try, and ive salvaged everything i get in white, sold most of the rare drops i get to other players, purpl i sell to merchants and blue i usally salvage for the upgrades, but i still haven't gone over the 30k mark thru saving for 2 weeks, i mean there are ppl on here saying they make approx 1-50k in 2 hours i cant even make tht in 2 weeks, wats goin on guys?

its ALL about luck. i have been saving for 2 months now and gathered 78k. and my friend (wont tell his name) made 85k in about 5 seconds. he just killed a dwarf, got armor, salvaged it, got sup absorb. i make 78k in 2 months and he makes 85k in 5 secs... and if that didnt proove this, when we were farming in grenths footprint, he got 3 green items in a row from the bosses, i got nothing. so i think that all the "unlucky" ppl cant get rich. or can, but will take alot more time.

For the most of people most likely, yeah. How did the people selling that money get the money though? That must be where all the money is. There must be about 10+ mil being sold on ebay.

Ebay Gold
First of all I would like to say that if you have the extra money I don't see a problem with buying gold on Ebay.
By doing so you save hours/weeks/months worth of time farming to make $$$ when you could be doing other things.
I belive that there are "Sweat Shops" Perhaps in Asia where people are paid to "Farm" all day long to sell the gold on Ebay. When your talking about approx. $60.00 US for 1000 P That would be alot of money to someone from an underdeveloped country. Even Australlia.

parchment and vellum, my last vellum crafting run, netted me 20k, a good parchment run can net 10k
takes a week or so for gathering enough for worthwile parchment crafting, longer on the vellum, depending on your harvesting

50k every 2 hours :S thats sick...
lol i seem to manage with a small 10k fund, dunno how i do it =/ (3 lvl 20 chars)
another way how to earn that much is by trying your luck in SF (boss Farming for greens), but i doubt youll earn that much every 2 hours.
"Luck" /sigh... another thing i seem to lack xD

and also deldrimidor steel...but you need to be able to find it! just go out and explore...thats what I had to do...so much more of an accomplishment if you do it on your own :]
