I just moved a few slots around on my computer and I noticed that my Optical, Logi USB mouse had a PS2 adapter and yes... was attached to my PS2 port.
That means, throughout all the games I played UT2K4, I wasn't taking advantage of USB. Talk about stupidity.
Why I put in the PS2 port in the first place? I can't even fathom... amazing what retirement in competitive circles will do to a gamer.

Mine is also PS2.
Does it change anything? Hardware is like, so far beyond my fumbling intellect that I don't think it's even mesurable.

My MX510 is connected to the PS/2 port and it has a 200hz refresh, which is faster than USB's 120hz (or around there). You can change the settings.

I had all sorts of problems when I plugged my mouse and keyboard into USB. It seemed like it would take forever just to do a dodge, I put the PS/2s back on and everything works fine now.

That's what happened to me too. Probably something with the settings.

You can hexedit the usbport.sys file, right now mine is running at 500hz, here is a link with more info, http://www.warleagues.com/viewnews.asp?view=45&page=1
If you are content with the way your mouse is as of right now then don't bother going through this trouble. I went ahead and did it I've got a mx310 and it didn't feel right to me so I installed razer drivers, and upped to 500hz and it's super smooth...also the no accel patch for xp installed too, you can find that on cpl ftp I believe. IF you need help find me in #pugged <3

No prob and yea gg fun stuff, here is an application to check the mouserate http://www.duotec.org/mouserate.exe , download that move your mouse across it fast and it will give you the rate, The reason I did all that is because I get low FPS like 30 average so I needed something to smooth the mouse out and this did the trick, 500hz = Teh smoove <3

usb requires CPU cycles to process - ps2 does not. Therefore you are freeing up CPU cycles if you use ps2 instead of usb, which allows your CPU to process the game better.

Cool, thanks for those links. I'll read up more. I've got a PS2 keyboard (MS Elite) & USB mouse (MX500). Both work great, so I probably won't tweak anything. Good to know about potential problems though for when I build PC's for customers :)
