Rune of Superior Soul Reaping

Wow..doing some soloing and I come across this Rune of Superior Soul Reaping. Get all excited, etc. Go to a Rune Trader to see what the rune was currently going for.. I could buy one for 130gold. I was shocked.

Could this just mean that there has been a ton of Superior Soul Reaping runes sold back lately and thus the price is way down? Do you guys advise that I hold on to it until the prices go back up and then find a buyer?

I would either use it, give it away or sell it to the merchant. I don't really think that the price will ever come back up enough to make keeping it profitable. A lot of people shy away from using those superiors because they can't justify the -75 hp you lose.

I think that people would use them more often if the cost of the superior vigor wasn't so darn high. Imagine being able to use both a superior attribute and a superior vigor. Thats would reduce the HP penalty to -25. Add on a weapon that has +30 hp and you have just gained 3 attribute levels and +5 hp to boot.

In that special case, you also have to consider that Soul Reaping has no skills linked to it, therefore a superior rune only gives you 2 more energy for every dead creature at the cost of 75 HP, whereas all other superior primary runes give you stronger skills, too.
I have yet to meet someone who uses a superior Soul Reaping rune, I feel bad about many prices myself but you should just sell it and wait for a luckier day.

Actually, unless I am mistaken, superior runes give you 3 levels in the attribute they are for. Soul reaping gives you 1 extra energy per death per level. So, a superior rune would actually give you 3 more energy per death.

You got a point, as I was easy to being misunderstood. I meant, "gives you only 2 more energy compared to the use of a minor rune which every necro probably does". ;)

omg Sup Soul reaping is so nice I use t on my chest and use an other sup on scare -150hp yea i know it's not really good but I have a minor vigor and a +43hp staff so it's not so bad and I use weakness curse so hp isn't a problem :P

Superior soul reaping can be Imo one of the best runes (if not the best) if you use it correctly. Of course I'm going to be greedy/selfish and not post the strategy I've taken part in developing. If you see the build in pvp, you will remember it lol.

Well if HP is keeping you away from using Superior Runes then wouldn't using a Superior Rune and a Minor Rune Raise your antribute the same amount but save you 25 hp compared to using two Major Runes?

Runes do not stack. You cannot use two of the same type runes and gain benefits from both.

For instance, you cannot use a superior and a minor and get 4 lvl's increase on you attribute.

This is from the online manual on the official Guild Wars website:

Go here to see for your self.

However, you can used multiple superior runes of different types (i.e. Superior Soul Reaping and Superior Blood Magic) and get the bonuses.

yea it don't stack but negative hp stack so id your stack 2 sup blood magic you qill get just one +3 bonus but looser 2X 75 hp so 150 hp that mean that you can stack them to get a really low hp char and I'm pretty sure that what you was talking about is a build with 5 sup rune +protective spirit and aura of the lich so you get an insane 3hp char ^^
