Me/R or R/Me 

i have explored all professions except Me and ranger so i was thinking of making a Me/R or a R/Me. this is strictly for PvE, which is better and Y?

Make both and see which one feels more to your style, remember theres no "Better" class, they both have Pros and Cons...lemme know what u end up with im curious though.

i think it matters on whether you go for more bow disruptions or more mesmer skill disruptions... if you go for more mesmer disruptions, the fast casting really helps you out. If you go for bow disruptions, expertise helps utilize your energy more, and also helps with things like evading.

As with which on to go prim with if just for fun which do you like the most. I have a r/me and was in a party once with a me/r and I think the enemy only got every second or third skill off most the time so both work well but have one of each in a group and they rock!!

I only use minor runes (no neg health) and whirling defence as a ranger/mesmer also can get between the enemy warriors and our casters and needs the extra armour. So think of armour, and so on.

good suggestions. i am somewhat new to the game. and i know absolutly nothing abuot me or r or their armor. so mind telling me what is different in the armor?

also how often does interupt come in handy for PvE? i go green farming, i hardly ever see Me or Rangers on my team. its almost always nukers, 2 monks and 1 warrior (sometimes minion or battery necros)

Ranger armor provides more protection

almost every creature uses skills, many of which can be interrupted, it's just most dont utilize an interrupt, they just play right thru it :S

I recently started a Me/R as I didn't have a primary Mesmer.
Ranger is rapidly becomming my second profession of choice.

But as to your choice between Mesmer or Ranger primary, they do have a lot of superficial similarities. I think you should decide whether you'd like fast-casting more (increases spell casting) or Expertise (reduces skill cost).
I think the Expertise advantage is offset by the smaller ammount of Energy available to a Ranger, so I'd choose Mesmer.

As Lani said the rangers have smaller energy so its,
Mesmer , fast casting higher energy (armour60max)
Ranger , expertise higher armour (armour70max)

and yes 10 makes a big difference, even a +5armour bonus can mean the difference between being hot for alot or no damage at all.

When looking for skills for the combos its best you look through updates and or take notes of the skills list in Guild Wars at the moment. The ranger skills have changed alot and skills I thought fitted well now take too long to use or timing becomes guss work.

A ranger/mesmer is a very good,
Interupt Character and can make fights with those tough healers alot quicker. Think if a beastmaster didnt have stomp (knocks everyone over) or the healers were only half as good or that elemental would stop nuking us. Well with the interupt character this can happen.

Degen Life and Energy Killer Character, Both rangers and mesmers have the skills to take energy as well as put a large degen on the life of and enemy. What could be better, well if they were the same character being able to run alot of degen skills at same time. Poison, bleeding, phantasm and something like Energy Burn in a combo with Cripple Shot or Image Burden and not only change the enemies life bar nice green or pretty pink but watch it drop.

Trapper Shutdown Character, not dont much whith this one as its harder to defend the party when using this style, but its setting something like spike trap casting interupts and degens with the traps and a character as bait.

All those power nukers and tank warrior builds will fear a well put together r/mes or mes/r as everything that makes them tough the ranger or mesmer can take from them.

Being a ranger or mesmer you dont get much glory and its really only for thinking characters but if you can work it well then watch them fall. There is a bonus to the no glory side as only those taken down a few times with this combo will (or might) know you are a danger.

(Cast time) = (base time) * 2^(-attribute/15)
Because of the severe diminishing returns, the "sweet spot" is 7-9 points total in Fast Casting. 7 points reduces casting time by 28%, while 9 points takes 33% off.

Investing in Fast Casting is wise since many Mesmer skills require that you place a hex on them at a critical moment (for example casting Backfire just before an enemy casts a spell), having the ability to cast Backfire in less then a second when it would ordinarily take two is an extraordinary advantage. A skill like Cry of Frustration would cast instantly!

Below are tables listing the cast times of spells in ascending order from one to five seconds. The times in this table are rounded to the nearest 1/100th of a second, however it is unknown where Guild Wars does its rounding. Keep in mind that the table headings indicate the time the spell would take to cast with no points in Fast Casting
