just what exactly does ascension do??

okay, i don't know if this has been asked before, but me and my friend have both ascended, only to find that ascension does absolutely nothing at all! so what exactly is the point of ascending? and if it actually really DOES do something, then could someone possibly explain what it does? thnx.

Now it's time to rock Fissure of Woe and/or Underworld! Go to Temple of Ages when wherever you live has favor. Get in a Fissure or Underworld group and rock and roll.
