| Revelation of the Possible Morale System |

Every so often the Developers give us a small glimpse into their world and throw around small morsels to wet our appetites. This article from the Turbine site piques my interest a little bit more. Although they are as vague as ever about the intimate details, the overview of the proposed new Morale system seems interesting to say the least. Check it out here. Any thoughts?

I read that too. Hope seems like an original idea. I've never seen that used in a game before. But I would definetely lose hope in front of a Ring Wraith. D=

The hope idea is a refreshing step away from the norm, while, as they talked about in the article still being recognizable as a standard hit point type statistic.
If they can do it right, it can be one of the strongest gaming systems devised yet.
You can increase moral with the number in your group, or by the type of class you play grouping with certain other classes.
A warriors moral would certainly be increased knowing that he had the backup of a healer (even as a secondary skill from another warrior), even if he never needed healing it would embolden him to "wade right in".
Very interesting concept.

That's the very gist I got as well. However, the unfortunate thing about this article is that it doesn't give enough info to allow us more than just a guess. I'm sure that when they get to a concrete base for the concept more news will be given. I am excited that someone is taking on an ambitous project like this. Kinda gives the notion that the game will be somewhat removed from average in the game play department... I just hope they don't overdo it.

After reading through the entire article it simply sounds like a slightly different hit point system with a little lore (or meaning) behind it to give it some originality. Whether or not the morale system will dynamically change the way you view combat or alter your tactics considerbly, will be decided by a hands-on test.
The only thing that shook me up a little bit was the fact that it said that 'any class could potentially be able to rouse a fallen ally'. Which intriques me but needs more of an explanation as to how that would occur.
