| EQ2 - SONY Real cash servers? |
|
|
|
Greets.
I am thinking of playing EQ2 - and am tempted to play on (I believe) Bazaar/Shadowhaven servers due to the ability to sell items/etc for real US$ (as now permitted by SONY).
Haveing never played EQ2 before - I have some questions:
.1. Is gameplay on these servers normal (except for a population of farmers)? ie Can I co-exist/play there without ever being touched by REAL cash side of things?
.2. If I wish to buy/sell items to normal vendors/traders/etc (ingame) will that also cost me REAL cash?
.3. Can I use the Auction Houses normally listing ingame items for ingame cash - without availing (or ending to cough up for) REAL cash services?
.4. Can I choose WHEN to use REAL cash services, and when not to? (If I find a super rare item - I may put it up for US$) How would I do so?
.5. Is it recommended that I play on other servers first - and then move over to Bazaar/SH when I am a game veteran?
.6. Can I play and then sell characters/items existing on OTHER servers via creating a trader/mule on Bazaar/SH $-servers?
.7. Is there any potential to actually earn anything on Bazaar/SH after (minus) initial fee (minus) sales tax (minus) 10% commission (minus) Paypal fee?
.8. If my real $ auction fails to sell - what amount do I stand to lose except the listing fee for it?
.9. Is Paypal the recommended method?
Any others info / FAQ for this will be much appreciated. I havent seen any topics that actually help us know the real facts.
Thanks.

1. Is gameplay on these servers normal (except for a population of farmers)? ie Can I co-exist/play there without ever being touched by REAL cash side of things?
From what I understand, yes. But keep in mind that most Rare, legendary etc etc, items may be cash only.
.2. If I wish to buy/sell items to normal vendors/traders/etc (ingame) will that also cost me REAL cash?
No. In-game normal vendors will deal in game currency.
.3. Can I use the Auction Houses normally listing ingame items for ingame cash - without availing (or ending to cough up for) REAL cash services?
All in-game transactions, normal activity, does not hit the cash market unless you direct it that way.
.4. Can I choose WHEN to use REAL cash services, and when not to? (If I find a super rare item - I may put it up for US$) How would I do so?
Yes, but not exactly sure how the mechanics of that work
.5. Is it recommended that I play on other servers first - and then move over to Bazaar/SH when I am a game veteran?
This depends on what you want out of the game. If you are looking for entertainment and not the thought of quick cash, then just play the game on a regular server.
.6. Can I play and then sell characters/items existing on OTHER servers via creating a trader/mule on Bazaar/SH $-servers?
NO. All transactions of this type are limited to the appropriate Buy/Sell Servers. This is whats only accepted by Sony
.7. Is there any potential to actually earn anything on Bazaar/SH after (minus) initial fee (minus) sales tax (minus) 10% commission (minus) Paypal fee?
I suppose so. As far as this being a sanctioned action by Sony, it's still new. If someone wants to buy your level 60 Character for $500.00, I guess one may make a living at it.
But dont quit your job.
.8. If my real $ auction fails to sell - what amount do I stand to lose except the listing fee for it?
Not sure I understand this question. If you have a rare item up for sale for $100.00, whatever the cost to place that item up for sale is just that. Your cost, if it sells.
This is my understanding of the system.
.9. Is Paypal the recommended method?
I think that it is the only method.
Any others info / FAQ for this will be much appreciated. I havent seen any topics that actually help us know the real facts.
Thanks.
I am not on these Auction servers, so my answers are only what I have read, as I followed these in the making. I read alot about these when they started as discussion topics in the forums. I tried to follow these posts as often as I could, from Beta thru live. I am not positive my answers are dead on, but only from what I remember.
Hope this helps a little, but the bottom line is if you want to game, and game for fun, then go to a regualr servers. Just my opinion.
