OK, I realize that pvp runes are not a physical item but how in the world do I apply them before combat?[SIZE=7][/SIZE]

if your talking about runes unlocked thru faction, then the only way to access them is to make a PvP character. You also get access to other rune you have unlocked(unlocked as in identified, not bought) in PvE as well as weapon mod (not weapons themselves).
 
Illusive Sheep- Lvl20 Me/W
Vivacious Sheep- lvl20 E/Mo
Super Sheep- lvl 4 W/N
Slaughtered Sheep- PvP Mo/N

I got it from faction pts w/ a pvp character, but cant locate it anywhere after the purchase.

u can only see them when u are makin a PVP character as its on the armour setup screen

Prince Oidor (Level 20 Dervish/Elementalist)
Prince Androabyss (Level 20 Paragon/Any)
Amozan Assasin (Level 20 Assasin/Any)
Princess Abena (Level 20 Warrior/Elementalist)
Princess Abyss (Level 20 Elementalist/Mesmer)

Above posts are right. You can only use the runes when in the process of making a PvP character. If it was a physical item, there would be a problem of almost every character in the game getting them. :p
