So, are there ANY weaknesses at all the the stone tank? I've found that fire tanks get thier toggles dropped pretty easily in PvP. Looking at the numbers, Invul tanks don't really compare to being able to take damage like a stone tank can! from talking to people, invuln tanks are very good at keeping from getting thier toggles dropped - how are stone tanks at this??
I really think the ultimate tank is Stone/Energy. Please, where is the weakness in this build that the other builds are better at?? There has to be one....

GAH! I spent ages righting a reply, but it didnt show up! Basically, they do rock (heh rock, stone, geddit?), except the slowing of certain armours.

Stone tanks are great as they can resist all damage types but the trade off is that thier armours can slow them down and also can be very costly in the endurance catagories. And the armour you get for the first bunch of lvls looks a lot like poo.

I can't speak for PvP as I haven't taken my tank into that yet, but in PvE, unless I am running Rooted, my toggles get dropped alot, making Rooted a necessity, and by extension, Swift, if you want to move at a reasonable speed.

The reason that INV tankers are good at keeping toggles is the power unyeilding, which stops all holds, sleeps, disorentations etc.
One problem with energy melee is many disorientate. This can be bad because as a tank you really want the mobs near you. However, when they are disorentated they forget you all together, wandering away and jumping (and sometimes flying) around everywhere.

I have a stone/energy buddy in my SG, his name is Lance Aranda, and he kicks arse in the PvP zones. He and I team up sometimes in Warburg (since that's the only place that is worth playing in). I have never seen his toggles drop, prolly since he has rooted. He never dies. As for transportation, I think he uses tp to move quickly, otherwise he turns off armor and flies/super leaps.

That's great feedback, thanks everyone. I'd like to further the conversation by postulating another idea...
I think that as far as PvP is concernded, Invuln are the best tanks BEFORE lvl 32, and that Stone tanks are the best AFTER lvl 32.
Reason I say this, I think stone tanks can't hold a candle to invulns before they get granite armor. Heck, to take it further, I think invuln scrappers are tougher then stone tanks before lvl 32!
Now remember - in this post all I care about is PvP fighting! Cuz personally... I think fire tanks are THEE best mission tanks! Oh ya - 50% resistance to energy (more than invulns) and 80% resistance to Smash/Lethal (tied with invulns tied with granite tanks) and out of this world resistance to fire damage - PLUS they have awesome offence with burn (EVEN IF the bad guys run away [which I think they should - my vote is to always make the bad guys smarter before weakening us])
*Phew*

you wanna know the weakness to the stone tank? I will tell you. they are weak vs ice...not in damage, but in reacharge. especially in granite armor. my buddy has a 32 stone/stone tank and he fought an ice/engergy. he would litterally hit once every min or so. plus with ice's recovery reduction the stone tanks run out of end and their toggles fall off anyway.(maybe im biased vs ice tho...also in CoV stay away from ice tanks) just a warning tho...."Glacial falls"*shakes fist*
