elite collectors armor, anyone?

Dunno about everyone out there, but I believe Anet should have some sort of "elite" collectors armor instead of having the same look throughout the whole game.

Because the collectors armor looks the same throughout the entire game. most players acknowlege this as "bad armor" so the changes of being invited to a group is slimmer than a person with armor that has been bought. ***btw, max collector warrior armor is 80 +20 against physical, and its basically free if you actually take the time to get the items. then just buy the runes to add to the "special features" of the armor that can be bought. it all ends up being cheaper than armor that is bought.***

plus, if anet made the max collectors armor look cooler, it would present a healthy alternitive to look good while not spending a large sum of cash. but anyways, thats just me. is there anyone out there that feels the same way?

I actually agree with this, but I'd like to add one suggestion.

Guildwars used to have a certain type of armor (like the monks silk armor, and the elementalists Adept armor) that I think was removed with the official release of the game. I think that it would be a cool idea to have this returned to the game, as collectors armor, but have some high requirements for it...say 15 of a certain item.

Maybe even have those collectors down deep in sorrows furnace (just a thought), but have them collecting items that are from all over the game world.

yea, thats actually a great idea. seeing more armor styles is always welcome, especially if it involves no cash. ^_^

There's a collector in the jungle that gives you a +45 hp and -2 dmg received while enchanted shield, armor 12, req 8 tactics.

There is no collector that gives a version of that shield with 16 armor while enchanted, however.

isnt there a collector in the desert who gives a max shield, +45hp - 3 rec dmg (stance), -3 req dmg (enchanted)... not sure the stats are accurate but i kno it exists and roughly where to get it from

no. There's one that you can trade five bleached shells for, gives you 16 armor, -2 dmg received & +45 hp while in stances, req 9 tactics. (That collector is in the scar, north of thirsty river.)

There's another that's the same stats, but while hexed, that takes five massive jawbones. And that collector is at the southern portal to the arid sea, in vultures drift.

AND, i agree about armor variation...but only bad thing about collector armor, is the lack of special bonus armor, such as the glads... I wouldnt mind even paying for different versions (as long as the price wasnt any higher than the 15k :S )

A few things. First, if you're having trouble getting into a group because of your armor then you don't want to be in their group anyway. Remember, Level and Armor are NO substitute for skill and experience. Half of the people who have Drok's armor by the time they've gotten to North Kryta have poor skills, and their armor doesn't make up for it.

Second, the Desert collector's armor is almost as good as Drok's armor, and it would be cool if it had a unique appearance so people might actually use it.

Third, I think it would be really cool if there was some kind of "elite" collector's armor. They could give it a unique appearance and make it REALLY hard to get (like 1 piece is in SF, 1 piece is in UW, 1 piece is in FoW, 1 is in the Fire Islands, etc.) It would be a nice change from elite armor that's just super-expensive. I'd rather quest for the armor than farm for it, but that's me...

yea i completely agree with you Dex. some people are so used to people wearing regular armor its ridiclous (and i usually live longer than those with the 1.5ks).

the only thing i would change about your idea is having a complete set in each area (a FoW set, a UW set, a SF set, etc.). they don't even have to be that much different. just a variation on the overall shape or theme of the original collectors armor would be cool enough for me ^_^

I was just thinking that it would be cool to have some 'status' armor like the Fissure sets that were dependent on skill and time spent questing rather than money. That's why I was suggesting spreading out the pieces -- so it would be HARD to get and therefore very rare. I personally just get bored to tears with the monotony of farming. It's fun to experiment with builds, but once you find a good one it takes soooo long to really stockpile large sums of gold. I simply don't have more than 1-3 hours per night to play, and I'd rather not spend all of that time farming...

The other +45 health and -2 damage recieve while hex is right outside of camp rankor taking 5 frosted griffon wings. It used to be while in a stance, but they changed it for some reason, luckily i got one before they changed it :D
