| What is the best pet for a ranger? |
|

|
I have completed the game now and i have done it without a pet. I now want one and was wandering which would be the strongest pet (does the most damage). I don't care about the level because i am willing to put up with a low level pet. Can you help me? I am a ranger/mesmer.

There isnt a "best" pet to my knowledge.
BUT, the hardest to get is a spider they say. You can only get it at Underworld and there is only 1 there.

The "best" pet actually is the spider, from what I have heard. All the pets have equal armor, but the spider has been shown to deal slightly more damage. If I recall, at max Beast Mastery, the damage advantage was about 9 per minute. Not much, but significant. I haven't seen this myself, but I have also heard that the spider will poison opponents, which would be a BIG advantage over the others if true.

like silly said there is no "BEST" pet as there isnt either best character or weapon. This game revolves around making every thing even BUT the pets all hav diff types of attacks like blunt, piercing, ect. I dont know what pets hav what types but just go for which ever pet u think looks coolest.

if i am wrong about the pets which isnt inpossible since i dont use em the spider would make most sence but the difference wouldnt be much since anet trys 2 make everything even

the UW spider is already high level
the UW spider does do poison damage
the UW spider actually appears in 3 diff places i believe
the UW spider does do slightly more DPM
so all in all, if you really want a pet, i would suggest that... I personally am an arachniphobe, and hate spiders... if that's the case, any other pet would be fine... matter of taste... and I am sure you could level him/her quickly

I would just say that, even though the spider may do a slight bit more damage, its all up to your personal preferences and style, what you think looks cool. It may not do as much damage, but against different creature types, yours might end up doing more damage than expected; thus the best may be negated. Again, its all up to the "pick the creature you like". So just have fun with it.

An easy under stated pet is the cat! As pets all do about the same damage and have the same armour then it all seems the same.
But,,,
Has anyone noticed the cat is..
a, quicker of the mark
b, faster at getting there
c, has less calls, howls and stuff so is more like to move and attack when you say.
Well this is my best pet idea :)

i'm a fan of the warthog.
My little Warthog has been my tank so many times, just the other day he was my main tank in Ring of Fire, and I only had 8 points in Beast mastery!
The most fun in having a pet is the Joy of raising it from a little lvl 5 to a hulking lvl 20 weapon of destruction. pick one you feel a bond with. but if i had to pick again(and couldn't choose warthog), i would probably go for a Lizard or a Moa bird(would just be funny to watch one of them kicking arse)

I got my ranger a bird. Sgt Gobbles isn't the best pet but it seems he has a higher defense than even i do which makes me think that different pets do in fact have different stats. Oh my BM level is 1 so it's not like i jacked up my bird with BM.

They should make pets grow with each lvl xD
Basically: lvl 5 pet = small --> gets bigger --> lvl 20 pet is big :P
