Carebear

I am not sure why I keep doing it, but I was browsing some official forums. Of course there was a lot of name calling. But I saw one new one: Carebear. I am not sure about the exact meaning, but it seems to be the new hype word. I can't seem to find an official description for it. But I still think it is a cute term. It is used to call somebody anti-pvp. And even for people that complaining about PK or kill griefing. Since we enter the world of PVP, you might become a carebear. I am probably one. And I am proud of it!

LOL...I wonder how long until there are SG's with "carebear" in the name....hmmm...I wonder what the villain equivilent would be?

EDIT: One of my WOW friends said they use that term alot for the anti-pvp'ers over there...maybe it came from there.

I'm none to fond of PvP and definately have problems with heroes attacking other heroes and getting in the way of people completing missions in the PvP zones. Guess I'm a Care Bear. I'll choose to be the ever kind Friendship Bear...

Teddy Ruxpin 'cause nobody can convince me that bear isn't evil.
BTW I love PvP it is more exciting and there is no penalty for dieing. Even if you die a lot you will be very happy when you finnaly kill someone. Think of how charlie brown would have felt if he kicked that football. So come on carebears take a dip in the PvP pool.

It might need some tweaking, but I made this for the "Carebears of the Apocalypse". My character is brand new...DEATH BEAR! I'll need to level fast to get a SG created. :)

Huge Build
Height, All Down
Psysique, All Up
Chest, All Up
Shoulders, All Down
Waist, All Up
Hips, All Up
Legs, All Up

Colors, your choice, based on the "bear" you make

Head:
Face: Feline or Feral (Feral will look angrier)
Hair: Afro, try to match close to your skin color

Upper Body: Tight
Chest: Smooth/None
Shoulders: None
Chest Detail: Whatever is appropriate to your Bear
Gloves: Monstrous/Full/None (or whatever is appropriate to your Bear)
Belt: None or whatever is appropriate

Lower Body: Tight
Pants: Tight/None
Boots: Smooth/Tights/None

Well, if I may attempt to shed some light on this from what the term 'carebear' is in the UK amongst some of the people I know.

If this is put into PvP situations and you get jumped I'm guessing that the term is referring to the fact that your attacker don't really give two hoots about beating the heck out of you, giving rise to the term "carebears care" as meaning "I don't give a damn about beating on you."

Oh well that's just a weird UK thing I guess hehehe

I may be mistaken, but I believe the term "Carebear" as applied to MMORPGs began with Ultima Online, my first MMO love. "Hardcore" fundamentalists of that game, pining for the days before Trammel, the non-PVP facet existed, have been on a constant search for new perjorative terms to call those who spend most of their time in protected areas. It began with "Trammies," which is of course a derivation of the name of the facet. However, they have since unloaded on the non-PVP population with a sleu of names, including Carebear as the most recent I've heard, starting a little over a year ago... perhaps two.

I do know that UO has the largest gap in understanding between the PVP and non-PVP members, so I wouldn not be surprised if this is where the term had its inception.
