i have a lvl 5 ele that use earth spells, but i have only stoning as a damage spell
It does 43 dmg but it only hurt for 20-30. does all have good eath resistance or is earth just crappy to use in PvE?

To be perfectly honest, all Ele attributes are crappy when you're level 5 :-)
The difference between the damages is the armor/defense rating of your enemies. A lot of creatures have more, or less, resistance to certain kinds of elemental damage. Most notably in "element based creatures", like rock or boulder elementals for example.
The damage susceptability matrix is:
Earth vs Air
Fire vs Water
Since you're level 5, you've still got a lot of experience to gain with your elementalist before you're done. I suggest you play the game some more before settling on an opinion about any of the elements. Play around with them, tweak your attributes to suit your specialties and enjoy.
The game's storyline is pretty well set up for the Elementalist to get acquainted with all elements before reaching level 20 and the Crystal Desert.
Having said that. It's true that Fire and Air are the more direct damage dealing elements, while Earth and Water are a bit more subtle in their use.
