There are a couple of different builds I use with my R/Mo. One of them is a custom damage build:
Penetrating Attack
Poison Arrow
Kindle Arrows
Troll Ungent
Rez
Distracting Shot
Whirling Defense
Throw Dirt
Before entering combat, use Kindle Arrows. Once engaged, use Poison Arrow first, then Penetrating Attack (or Distracting Shot, if the enemy is casting) Whirling Defense and Throw Dirt are Defensive skills, so use them when you are under attack.
This is just one of the hundreds of combinations of skills, so you might want to try to put together some of your own.

If you are a trap ranger go for something with close range AoE for monk. For example when you put up SoJ most players won't bother to attack you so.... you can run up next to them and lay traps. Also this will decrease your chances of getting interrupted since their attack time decreases. Or you can combine the trap that causes crippled and bleeding (forgot the name sorry) with Balthazar's Aura and finish them off just by sticking next to them. You don't necessarily need healing spells since rangers have troll unguent so stick with smiting to support your attacks. Rebirth is a good idea unless of course you are going into a PvP arena in which case stick with res sig. Or here is another idea. Take your pet and cast balthazars aura on it and then let it aura and tank the enemy while you pummel them with poison and explosions or fire or whatnot depending on your preference.
