City OF Christmas Competition

Gather round all you Heroes of Paragon and Villains of the Rogue Isles for a special, Christmas competition announcement.

Seeing as we are rapidly approaching the festive season of goodwill to all heroes and villains, the staffers here at the gameamp CoH and CoV sites have cooked up a little competition that could be a little festive fun for everyone.

So what do you have to do and more importantly, what are the prizes up for grabs!

Well the what you have do part is pretty simple and possibly going to be a little bit of fun for all you creative ampers.

What you got to do is simple. Design a Hero or Villain with a Christmas theme. Looks, colours, name, costume - you decide. Fill in a character bio and snap off a screenie to send to us showing your Hero or Villain in all their Christmas glory and their background bio.

We only need a single shot, no comic strip entries with multiple shots please!

All submissions should be added to the "X-Mas Contest Gallery" on their respective sites. Any entries not submitted into the Contest Gallery will be considered null and void. One entry per person, per site. (Yes that means you have 2 chances!)

The staff of both sites will be judging all entries and picking their top 3 on each site.

So, what is up for grabs? Well, we thought that we'd do something different and lasting and give up some bragging rights to the winners of each site.

So, in reverse order, here are the prizes on offer.

Just submitting a screenshot to the gallery, which we are going to keep hidden from view until we decide on the winners, will of course earn you 10 credit.

Third place from each site will earn themselves 75 Credit

Second place from each site will earn themselves 100 Credit

The winners from each site get themselves 150 Credit... and something special. We're offering up the chance for the winners of each site to pick a staffer from the respective sites and conduct an in depth interview with them which will be posted on each site in January.

Yup, we're offering up the chance for two of you to get the scoop on anyone of us you like, except those already done and unfortunately Nogame and Shamen aren't included as the Devs simply have too much on at the moment.

How do you get to do the interview? If you got a headset then you can teamspeak it and actually chat to the staffer (remember to take notes!!) or over a messenger of choice, msn, aol or yahoo etc. And if you don't have one of those you can do the interview via email. All you got to do is pick a date, get your questions ready and sort it out with the staffer of choice and we'll get your exclusive scoops up for everyone to read and the best part is, the interviews are gonna be up in the interview section for all time!

So, not only do you have to think about the character design, start thinking of some questions that you really wanna ask us, in depth, funny, game related, you ask it and we'll answer (hopefully without too many no comments!!)

So get your Christmas thinking hats on and get creative.

Competition starts Monday 21st November and runs until Friday 9th December and we'll hopefully be announcing the winners on each respective site on Friday 16th December along with the winners choice for interviewee if possible!

Remember that the competition closes FRIDAY so get them santa hats on and get to posting your villains for this holiday season.

Will post them all up on saturday and the results will get posted sometime next week....

Who will win the top prize of getting to interview a staffer? Which staffer will undergo a grilling by a member?

Are we ready for an interrogation by one of the chosen? Are you ready to try an interrogate one of us?

edit the post and remove the screenshot. you don't want any one to get your idea. submit the screenshot in the screenshots section under the christmas contest. also the best screenshot would show you whole villain. open your personal info to display your bio and take an ingame screenshot with the UI on.

Actually, what we want you to do is grab a screenie of your character using the "screenshotui 1" slash command with the info box up. This is how to do it.

In the chat box, type /screenshotui 1 and hit ENTER.

Click on the Menu pull down up at the top right of the screen and pick "Personal Info" that will bring up the info box. Make sure your character's bio is fully viewable in that window.

Move and size your windows so it looks the way you want it to, then hit "Print Screen" to grab your screenshot. (You can position your camera to the front of your toon by holding down the center [wheel] mouse button and swinging your mouse to the left or right)

Submit the screenshot via the CoV Screenshots link under MEDIA in the left navigation bar on the website. Make sure to choose the Christmas Contest gallery when you submit your screenie. Also, in the title of the screenshot, be sure to put something in there to let us know it's for the contest (although we're usually smart enough to figure it out). :)

I'd say Midnight tomorrow is the close but I'm gonna be asleep as I'm cooking a meal tomorrow night and will be in bed at 5am UK time, so Anything posted after midnight won't count Im afraid. I'll post up the Comp entries when I get up saturday morning and then the wait to decide the winners for each site will last a few days and we can drag that out just to make it a long painful wait til you know the 3 top for each site and which staff are getting mauled, I mean interrogated by the overall winner of each site.

One day to go!!

That's right folks, today is your final day for entries in the City Of Christmas Competition.

As the mug, I mean staffer who came up with the idea and the slight problem that I'm over the pond in the UK, any late entries must be dated with 9th December to be accepted.

Anything dated the 10th unfortunately will not be entered, altho I will still award the 10 points for a screenshot - but this will only apply to those that are in the waiting to be approved area for the competition.

All the entries will appear on the City of Villains and City Of Heroes sites during the day on Saturday 10th December.

Top 3 placed entries will be announced on Friday 16th December.

So, there you go, the final 24 hours (and few minutes) left to get an entry to the comp are here.

Good Luck and I hope that if you already entered that you are thinking of who you wanna interview!

Please note, the site is based on CENTRAL TIME. So entries must be put in before 1:00am Eastern Time! As long as the site says that it's dated with 12/9/05 or before, it will be accepted.

There's some really good entries in there so far, so this should be a fun and creative contest. :) Thanks to everyone who's entered already.

Right guys, that's ya lot.

The entries that have followed the guidelines for the competition will be posted in the Xmas comp gallery under screenshots.

Many thanks to those who entered, the CoH and CoV staff are now going to take a few days to decide upon the top 3 entries for each site and I'll announce that as soon as we have a decision for both sites.

I know a few staffers are starting to wonder about the possibility of being interviewed by a gameamp member and are a touch nervous about just what kind of grilling they are gonna get from you guys !
