Quick question: should i give my bow the zealous string i have (only 1 energy) or should i buy a new one?
I dont have loads of cash so i cant afford anything great..really i wanna know if +1 energy is enough to sacrifice 1 regen

I don't claim to know much about mods, but from what I can gather from the general populace is that zealous mods are not really desirable. You'd be better off trying to buy a 5/1 vampiric string if you can or hope to find one. Personally I would even take a 3/1 or 4/1 vampiric string over a zealous one.

i agree...
zealous only gives u +1 energy and it slows down your energy regeneration by 1.
and so the vampiric or maybe sundering string would be a better idea

I played around for a bit, trying to find a good use for a zealous string. The best I could come up with was barrage against a mob pack. It would be a secondary weapon, like when casters have a staff primary, and an offhand for emergency energy in a secondary weapon slot (with or without a wand).
The zealous string doesn't steal energy like the vampiric steals health. If it did, I'd think it might be more popular.

Luckily i have a 3/1 vampiric string in my storage too for some unknown reason. I'm gonna use that, thanks for the help all!

Oil, a zealous string is one of the best things if you have if you utilize the right skills.
Try using Barrage and watch your energy go up when going against a group of enemies. Zealous hilts are mostly used in HoH. The 3:1 Vamp you are going to use isn't going to benefit you much, but that also depends on what bow you are going to use.

ooo! A negative 7 without reason! Love it. ;)
The problem that I have with Vampiric Strings is that if it has a slow firing rate, you won't be gaining much health. I feel that no matter what situations, is good to bring a variety of bows, whether it be PvE, or PvP. Whether it be one with a Zealous hilt, Vamp, Sundering, or an elemental.
Each one has its use.

indeed, if you use zealous with th right skills it can really be good but when you do use it I would use it on a shortbow
and yeah zealous would really be nice if you steal the energy of your opponent

I recently used a zealous mod on one of my axes and it didn't perform to what I expected. Until I used cyclone axe in the middle of a big mob! That sure worked well, but overall I just find that I would have rather not have the mod.
Like Mann said though,
If you have the proper setup of skills vs. equipment any and everything is worthwhile!
