| Question Specific for Making a Mastermind Bind |
|
|
|
Ok guys...I have never played a controller past 10, or a Dominator past 18, so I have no clue about pets, and the dynamics behind a MM pet seem to overwrite all those rules also. I have a specific bind that I would like to set up and was wondering if someone can assist me. Here is waht I want to bind it to and what I want that bind to do.
/bind O (thats not the number)
Basically what i want it to do is whenever I press the O button, I want my pets to attack my nearest button. That would be the equivalent to pressing my tab button and my qued power attacking. So I was wondering if you could help me make the bind.
And NO I don't have a freaking clue about how to make a pet bind so PLEASE teach it to me barney style. Thanks so much in advance guys.

I'm guessing you meant that you want your pets to attack the nearest enemy at the touch of the "O" key. Now, as far as I know, there's no way to do that. If there was an "attack nearest enemy" key, that'd kinda defeat the purpose of playing the game. Think about it: all you'd have to do is sit there and keep hitting the key until no baddies are left. Not too fun in my opinion. However, I'm not here to tell other people how to have fun, so enough preaching for me.
Back to the subject...I do not know of any such command, or a way to make that a reality. What I can do is look around and inquire my "sources" for said information. I'll probe a little deeper into this for you, but for now, all I can do is recommend asking Nogame for his macros that send each specific type of pet to whatever location you want them to go to. Its pretty handy, and if I had the patience to program them, or the memory to recall how he told me how to do them, then I'd program them myself.

Okay, I think I have what you want, or very close to it. I've tested it and it works almost like what you want, maybe someone else can fine tune it. Try the following:
/BIND O "target_enemy_near$$petcom_all attack aggressive"
Now, this will not just insta-target your nearest enemy and make the minions attack it. For some reason it becomes a two step process (press fast and it's almost a one step process). Press "O" the first time and it targets your nearest enemy; press "O" the second time and it will cause your minions to attack this targeted enemy. I dont know that you can make it a single button push, but this command worked for me. To be honest I may delete that bind though because I may accidently press "O" and forget about the bind since I wouldnt use it and my minions are squirrely enough as it is (God love 'em). Just thought I'd see if I could make a new bind on my own, and darned if it didnt work. Maybe I could be the future "Khaiba" of binding. BTW Good idea to research the "Khaiba's Mastermind Binds" on the web. This will really help in your understanding of pet binds. Good luck, Gov!
:Tested Bind Further: This bind will only work line of sight! If you have an enemy tapping on your shoulder and you cant see him; it will not target this enemy. Now, if you can get even his leg on screen, it will target just fine. FYI

i find this relatively unneeded to be totally honest, i play with my MMs pretty much the same way i always have. on my mouse i have my back button to target nearest enemy.
my strategy for selecting taregts in any battle has always been target closest enemy. i do this because it saves me having to worry about what to attack next. i do this in pretty much any fight unless of course i have spotted something particularly dangerous in which case i will go for it.
with masterminds its never been any different except after i target instead of attacking something i will tell my pets too. i have the all pets attack macro in my powers bar along with goto. although i think i need to add heel to that.
i find this a very efficient way of playing.

I don't use any binds yet, but I do plan to.
I'm level 26 and my method of attacking the nearest enemy is kinda kludgy, but since I worked for Microsoft in the past, it's ok. :)
After the current enemy is killed, I've moved my "Brawl" power next to my "Pet Attack" command. So I just click "Brawl" which selects the closest enemy and then click attack. And being that I'm a Merc controller, the result is kinda like a POD song...

Its Saliva guys. "Click Click Boom" was the name of the song even. POD had a song named "Boom" but that's not the one you were thinking of.
from Saliva's "Click Click Boom"
Click, Click Boom.
I'm coming down on the stereo,
hear me on the radio,
click, click boom.
I'm coming down with the new style and you know it's buck wild.
Click, Click Boom
I'm on the radio station touring round the nation,
leaving the scene in devastation.
from POD's "Boom"
Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, here comes the boys from the South
Boom! Here comes the Boom!
How you like me now?
Settled? Always listen to the DJ when it comes to music stuff guys ;)

Actually, after I posted it and logged off, I relized I was wrong. It really just took a little thinking...
POD is a Christian Rock/Rap band, so chanced are they weren't going to release something like "Click Click Boom". A little logic goes a long way.
Regardless though, back to the binding. :)
